Meanwhile, ICE has not slowed down. They are just going about it quietly, which means the violence we saw before was performative, encouraged & unnecessary.

Majority of Americans... are rejecting the cruelty, chaos, and misplaced priorities of the Trump/Miller mass deportation agenda, while another horrific case of ICE detaining an active duty military spouse captures why Americans are recoiling.

“The bill is the first pro-immigrant bill to pass Congress this legislative session,” said @aclu.org, “and signals that elected officials across the aisle are rejecting the Trump adminstration’s extreme anti-immigrant policies, including the gutting of humanitarian protections …”

After months of organizing, Haitian TPS holders and advocates forced the House to act, passing a bipartisan bill to extend TPS for Haitian immigrants through 2029.
Haitian Bridge Alliance ED Guerline Jozef: “this is what people-powered advocacy looks like.”
"I love the Army. (The) Army helped me out for almost 28 years. It's not the Army, sir. It's ICE," said Sgt. First Class Jose Serrano. "ICE is out of control right now, sir, taking away rights, as soldiers, that we have."

"An active-duty U.S. Army sergeant who has served in the military for 27 years, including in Afghanistan, said he still does not 'understand why' his wife was detained by ICE last week in Texas."
Sgt. First Class Serrano said his wife could be deported to Mexico, a country where she has no ties.

That $190 BILLION could have funded Head Start for 15 years
That $190 BILLION could have paid for universal free school meals six times over.
But instead he wants BILLIONS MORE to abduct our immigrant neighbors and traumatize their children.
Trump claims that “it’s not possible for us to take care of day care, Medicaid, Medicare, all these individual things.”
Meanwhile, he wants BILLIONS more to fund his mass deportation obsessions on top of the $190 BILLION that DHS already got last year thanks to his big ugly bill👇🏽
“At least nine immigrants have died of presumed suicides since President Donald Trump assumed office in January 2025. Since then, at least 49 people have died overall in ICE custody, according to a Miami Herald analysis of press releases, death reports, autopsies, and government documents.”
Senate Dems say a 27-year-old died in ICE custody on Sun. Just one day prior, a 47-year-old Mexican national also died. Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has blasted “serious deficiencies in ICE detention centers,” calling them “incompatible w/human rights standards and the protection of life.”
Immigrants are dying in ICE custody every week.
Just because mass deportation agents stopped executing Americans in the streets doesn’t mean the brutality is over.
NEWS: A 27-year-old in ICE custody died on Sunday, the 17th death in immigration detention facilities in 2026.
“This week is tax filing season in the U.S., and just like last year, many undocumented immigrants are likely to choose not to file their taxes for fear of being tracked down and deported by the Trump administration—all to the detriment of government revenue," writes Maribel Hastings.
Following the death of yet another Mexican national in ICE custody, Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs blasted “serious deficiencies in ICE detention centers,” calling them “incompatible with human rights standards and the protection of life” 👇🏽 #AbuseofPowerWatch
Cuban man dies by suicide in ICE detention in Miami — the second in Florida in a month
Aled Damien Carbonell-Betancourt was found in his cell “in what appeared to be a suicide attempt” on April 12, ICE said in a press release. The official cause of death is under investigation.
Camp East Montana is officially under new management as of today, acting ICE director Todd Lyons told the House Appropriations Committee yesterday. Amentum services is now managing the massive detention center in El Paso. This confirms what a source told me last week.
Here is my story:
From deaths in ICE custody to children suffering in detention and programs for services for unaccompanied minors being cut, this isn’t isolated. It’s a pattern.

“Americans, including Latino voters, are rejecting the cruelty on display. There is a growing recognition that the mass deportation agenda makes us poorer, weaker, and less safe and is becoming a political liability for its supporters.” Vanessa Cárdenas Executive Director of America’s Voice
Three separate and recently released polls of Latino voters offer fresh evidence that key segments of the electorate and American majority are rejecting mass deportation and calling for real accountability and reform.

Meanwhile, Americans who have seen vital assistance cut to help fund mass deportation and tax breaks for billionaires are depending on food banks and shelters to survive: michiganindependent.com/economy/mich...
Since the start of 2026, someone is losing their life in ICE custody EVERY. SINGLE. WEEK.
Read that again: EVERY. SINGLE. WEEK.
This isn’t “enforcement.” This is the human cost of a cruel mass detention agenda.
Latino voters are rejecting the cruelty, chaos and violence of the Trump and GOP mass deportation agenda. Like the majority of all Americans, Latinos believe Trump has gone too far and are calling for real reform and accountability.
Trump and Miller already ripped $191 BILLION from healthcare, food assistance, disaster relief, and law enforcement to fund mass deportation.
Now they want $50+ billion MORE — with zero oversight.
Here’s what happened with the first $191 billion allocated in 2025 and a preview of what’s to come. ⤵️

Working families file their taxes and expect that money to help our communities thrive.
Instead, Trump and de-facto president Stephen Miller are doubling down and "seeking to push tens of billions more into their mass deportation machine through another reconciliation bill."

In a clear rejection of failed immigration policies, the House passed a forced vote to extend Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitians!
Many Haitians with #TPS work in hospitals, airports, and care jobs. They deserve protection, not deportation.
The Senate must act now. #KeepThemHome
Some truly amazing news: “Today, Congresswoman @pressley.house.gov, Co-Chair of the House Haiti Caucus, secured a major victory in the House of Representatives, passing critical legislation to extend Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti by a vote of 224-204.” pressley.house.gov/2026/04/16/b...

🚨 The House voted to extend TPS for Haitians, protecting more than 350,000 people from family separation.
Thank you to Representative @pressley.house.gov, Representative Laura Gillen, and the bipartisan coalition who made this possible.
Now the Senate must act. #ProtectTPS
