One of the students, a person with small demon horns sitting on top of their head, start saying "But how could a non magi-" and their seat neighbour, a girl wearing a witch hat, slaps her hand over their mouth. They both look at Astrid, the girl with the witch hat embarrassed, and the demon person somewhat annoyed.
Astrid sits down on a table in the classroom. "Right, then let me ask you", she says, "do you know the main two types of magic?"
The demon person looks offended. "That's a given", they say.
Astrid smirks slightly. "And they differ how?" She asks.
The final panel of the comic page is an image of a potion, wand and book floating in the air among soft sparkles. "Ugh... Well, Tamed Magic is any magic you can reliably repeat", the demon person says.
The demon student appears to be counting on their fingers. "And Wild Magic is any magic yet to be Tamed", they say. "It's volatile, unpredictable and often dangerous... Why though...? This is such basic stuff." In the background of the panel, behind them ,there's a person screaming as they're engulfed in flames and magic crystals float around them.
Astrid smiles, satisfied, and responds: "Hmm, well. You're exactly right. Then, let's put it this way."
In the final panel the background behind Astrid depicts an old-school-looking map depicting the unknown as land covered in forest, and the known as a land of rivers, mountains and occasional forests.
She asks: "Have you, a person born with magic, ever had to explore Wild Magic? Despite our current knowledge, it's an impossibly large and scary field of study. So why would you if you don't have to?"
Astrid looks up with a somewhat sinister expression. "I research it more than most because I'm DESPERATE. Of course I'd pick up a thing or two." The students murmur as she keeps explaining, "One can still learn theory even without magic."
The demon student apologises awkwardly: "I... I see. Sorry..." The student with the witch hat gives them the side-eye, annoyed, and whispers "stop being a dick."
Astrid sighs with a smile, and then starts fiddling with her papers, moving on with her lecture: "Alright, any other questions before we sta-"
"TEACH ARE YOU SINGLE???" she's interrupted. Professor Alma chockes and spits with laughter in the foreground.
Astrid looks out over the crowd of students. "No comment", she says.
"THAT MEANS YOU ARE", someone yells.
"No", Astrid says. "I just didn't think you were ready to hear about me and your mother yet."
The crowd of students laugh and giggle, but in the back we see the back of a man with fluffy hair, wearing a white polo observing everything.
Astrid and the student who interrupted her banter.
"Hey, leave my mum alone!!"
"I'll consider it if you pay attention in class!"
