My parents have been married for 59 years. I am grateful for their enduring commitment to eachother and all people - particularly my people.

My mother would remind you to wear your sunglasses, except she isn’t wearing hers in this picture. And eat lunch outside… which you should!!

It was a good day in Room 206 - in spite of the reptile. While some students reported that I should not be afraid, Layla appreciated my fear.

We also worked hard on the project. As usual, kids helped eachother and everyone had good ideas.

We ate pizza in Advisory with Coke because Eyoab asked. ♥️

Thanks for sharing! I agree that helping kids see themselves as capable people who can try hard things early on makes them be more confident and brave as they age.

A weird but fun virtual school day. Kids showed up to introduce their pets, do math, tell jokes and share concerns about the messed up world in which we live.

Make space to think and be together.. no matter the platform..

Paying attention to what you already know and being brave enough to try - even when you’re unsure are also important.

Grateful to @edutopia.org for giving me a platform to share some ideas..

If you’re feeling shy about sharing your ideas… don’t! Other teachers need to hear your ideas..

Helping Students Learn the Art of Trying in Math These four classroom shifts can make academic risk-taking feel safer, clearer, and more worthwhile for middle school students.

Trying is hard!

I’m grateful to the folks @edutopia.org for giving me a platform to share some of my ideas about trying. Work collaboratively, keep things playful and develop some strategies for when you get stuck…

Give ‘em a try…

There was a moment yesterday when I thought to myself, “no one is gonna finish this project.”
But today, Pathfinders showed up to work and help each other.. So good!
My advisory is also helping me get better at my friendship bracelets, so all in all, it was a perfect day @slamsphilly.bsky.social

We had a pretty epic afternoon with the SLA-MS Racket Sports Club..
Kids worked hard to get better at a thing, we had a dedicated photographer and lots of sunshine and fun.
I’m grateful to our 3 founders for asking me to be the faculty advisor for this incredibly fun group of people!

Lucky to have spent 3 afternoons with kids and their families talking about projects, growth, goals and hopes. It’s a privilege to bear witness to the ways families love and communicate. Being able to share these moments 4 times a year is one of the many reasons why I love @slamsphilly.bsky.social

Today in Advisory, we taught eachother how to make friendship bracelets. It was both hard and fun.
I like it when kids can display their non-academic talents, help eachother and persist with trying something different.
I still have lots of floss.. so we hope to get better over time!

What does it mean to be busy? How can we help students derive joy from productivity?
