I was raised in a Catholic household, CCD, mass every Sunday, and am long-since lapsed. But I know enough to know, and have been around enough Catholics to know, that a lot of Catholics like Vance are not in it for the Catholicism. And to be honest I think beef *should* be kind of a luxury item. It's only ever been a staple due to massive subsidies and extremely cruel conditions of production for the animals. It's also relatively unhealthy so maybe not something to subsidize to the extent we do.

How much beef are people eating?? I occasionally buy a pound of 80/20 ground beef at Hannaford or Shaw's for under $6. Not trying to financially shame anyone but if a $6 food item is seriously out of range then I don't think 'beef' is a good explanatory metric.
