Trump rages at 'disrespectful' Zelenskey..... Americans, you need to stand up and be heard. You need to take action. Those who go along with this, silently, are complicit.

Too many lines crossed today - Russia media in the room, coercion instead of support.... ugly!

A whitened deer scapula with a fabric moose, ribbon, and beads. Moose scapulas are too big!

A whitened deer scapula with a fabric moose, ribbon, and beads. Moose scapulas are too big!

Forecast is for frigid temperatures AND snow, an unusual combination for this region.

Countdown to 2025's first craft-cation, going to be the first in our tiny home.

Last year's deer scapula art for inspiration. Sunflower centre is a piece of antler with deer fur tufting.

My Dakelh (Indigenous Canadian) husband and I will use it when working with our community to reconnect people to the land, plants, medicines, and culture.

Leathery on one side, the scales are off on the other, and the scale pockets leave a nice pattern

Pulled lengthwise (tail to head or vice versa) very strong. This is due to the fibres running in all directions due to the pressure fish face in the water.

Pulling from the belly to back or back to belly is easier to tear.

The leather is good for phone cases, bags, quilting or sewing, earrings

Tanned salmon skin, fish leather

Tanned salmon skin, fish leather

Striving to use as much of the animals we harvest as possible, working on this year's salmon. We save the bones for bead making, and some of the skins for tanning.

Fish leather is strong! Learning Dakelh traditions with my spouse.

Interesting insect day..... Did you know that fruit flies don't like morphine - they are partial to cocaine? www.bbc.com/future/artic...

And that supporting dung beetle colonization of cow patties could save Canadian ranchers millions? publications.gc.ca/collections/...

Traditionally, Indigenous people ate (and preserved for later use) things like Cottonwood buds, which are loaded with vitamin C.

This scurvy outbreak is another symptom of colonization and the loss of traditional practices and Indigenous knowledge.
