Wrapped up "The American Oligarchy" with the Tennessee Law Review. Fun read if you're not into billionaires and corporate oligarchs taking over public governance. The TITANS Act has even garnered some legislative attention! Very cool. Yes, I'm fun at parties.

Texas scholars—you might consider next year's Junior Scholars Workshop. If you're junior, it's a great chance to present and get valuable feedback from experienced voices. If you're senior, your input really makes a difference. Baylor Law was a great host this year!

Thanks! The paper should be done soon. It went through the last round of edits a few weeks ago.

Squirrel was def flexing on me. Made me feel vulnerable and like I needed to hit the gym!

Sorry for typos—phone screen is broken.

Had a blast presenting Discriminatory Takings at the University of Michigan. A big thank you to the JLR for giving my article a home and for hosting an amazing symposium! @noahkazis.bsky.social - great job moderating 👍

Also, the squirrels here are massive. They’re clearly bulking. Winter is coming.

Truth. I include a “no AP” disclosure in my non-AP engagement agreements. My phone rang a while back with a distraught potential client who conveyed his house into an irrev trust on the advice of an AP seminar mill that was going through town. Triggered the acceleration clause on his mortgage—1.3M.

Agreed. I don’t know whether law schools have different pricing, but it seems like the licensing fee is reasonable. A quick search for law schools that use Examsoft show student fees ranging from $0-90ish per semester. A large undergrad class size would help with negotiated rates, I’d think.

I grew up just outside of Chicago. Have such fond memories of the city. Christmas. St. Patty’s day. The best hotdogs in the country.

When did you first go offline? I wish Blue Sky had a “remind me” feature so I could follow up at the end of the semester. Would love to know how it went. I’ve been mulling this for a while.

Reminds me of when I was eight and had to got to the mall with my mom. If I was good, I got a slice of Sbarro pizza, an Orange Julius, and two bucks to exchange for quarters at Aladdin’s Castle. Tell me you know what I’m talking about 👍

But Da Bears are still da best! My Cubbies won the World Series, so I can die a happy man. Miss my Ditka Dogs—best hotdogs outside of Chicago.

I live in the country and it’s amazing to me that in 2025, we still have to rely on satellite.

Messy is right. My clients had taxable estates, so I relied on credit shelter trusts, gifting, and insurance planning to mitigate the tax burden that resulted from not having the unlimited marital deduction. If marriage is returned to the states, I hope the Windsor rule holds. Rev. Rul. 2013-17.
