China made a bet decades ago because it couldn’t compete with the US on cars. That bet is paying off big | CNN By any measure, China’s EV growth has been extraordinary — more than half of new cars sold last year were electric. The global implications could be staggering.

China couldnt compete w/the West in producing internal combustion vehicles, so it made a huge bet c. 2009: invest in EVs & help Chinese automakers leapfrog incumbents from the West. Interesting new report on transit costs. The data make clear the crisis of construction cost inflation in the Anglosphere.

One problem: A higher level of project soft costs, such as professional services, due to lack of in-house expertise.

Another problem: Overbuilding due to high risk aversion.
