I have a really fun two weeks ahead of me and that time is better spent enjoying life instead of being on social media ✌️

People would not extend themselves to help, care, be there, assist, etc if they had that same “I don’t owe anyone anything” mentality. If they didn’t genuinely care about you in the first place. Don’t fucking forget that.

This isn’t a negotiable topic with me. If you genuinely believe that you can take/use people around you and then “not owe them anything” when it suits you, then I have nothing to say. The damage caused is repairable. Obviously the term exists for a reason, but you know what I’m on about.

I don’t post much anymore, I’ve found happiness elsewhere (and I’m thriving tbh), but this topic came to mind today and I wanted to vocalize. The weaponization and misuse of therapy speak online to gaslight and manipulate people into accepting bad behavior/a lack of accountability is genuinely sick

It’s absurd how well meaning therapy terms and conversations have been twisted to fit a very self absorbed mentality so many people have, especially online. Everyone wants community, everyone talks about wanting a village but no one wants to be a villager; community is mutual. Care SHOULD be mutual.

You do, in fact, owe the ppl who stand by you, help you out, care for you, call you friend. If they do kind things for you, don’t owe them compensation or a debt, but rather you owe them basic kindness, benefit of the doubt, and conversation. You don’t get to take and not give the bare minimum back.

I’m gonna be really honest; “I don’t owe anyone anything” is a lowkey narcissism dog whistle. The phrase was meant to apply to strangers, acquaintances, etc; not your friends, family or loved ones.

The truth is, you do owe those people. You owe them basic respect and decency at the very least.

I’ve honestly been spending more time drawing when I can, hanging with my friends, managing my work, exercising, and being out in the real world more than being online and it’s genuinely been really good for the mental health. Can’t recommend it enough.

Sorry I’ve been kinda absent around here; I’m gonna be honest and say I’ve been purposefully keeping away from social media. I’d also be a liar if I said I haven’t been happier for it. I don’t have the energy for it these days.

Since I’m close to finishing my queue I’ll be opening for a few icon slots!
