Happy news (I know… it exists!): my next book’s out 21 May, on the racism and ableism that’s being overlooked - and what we can do about it.
Pre-orders are open!
Big thanks to the many people who helped bring this to life, sharing their stories including my sister Raana, its driving force.
Local elections on the horizon so obvs everyone’s behaving themselves and there’s not a lot going on. No one ‘taking the knee’ for potholes or failing to reopen libraries after being hanged govt cash to do just that.. ⬇️
… and we need the lift the projects and people in this latest edition offer, alongside a focus on shameful failures in support and care (and how to avoid them!).
Thanks to all involved in creating this latest issue⬇️
Always so glad to write for this magazine alongside @sabasalman.com and others. Check us out. Spread the word. Please support if you can. 🙏
Grim times call for some positive stories and practical solutions👇🏾
Thanks to all who helped create this latest edition.

Round up of rot in Croydon, Newry, Mourne & Down in Northern Ireland, the Shetland Isles, Lewes, Durham and Warwickshire... featuring 'hush money', a citizens' revolt, under-threat bumble bees, a 'certified pleasure coach' council leader a couple of controversial public sector figures who bow out 🔽
👌Tice here showing exactly how much tax he and his chums would prefer to pay.
Tricky isn't it, when your go-to, influencer-heavy, low-tax destination has lost some of its allure.

I'm just back from @sibs.org.uk Adult Sibling Day: an antidote to the grim news around. Sibs supports those who’ve grown up with disabled brothers/sisters, we heard diverse stories & practical tips like tackling health & care issues. V proud to chair this small but mighty UK charity www.sibs.org.uk
This weekend’s Adult Sibling Day brought together an incredible group of more than 70 siblings of disabled people. Too many adult siblings still don’t know that support exists. If you attended, we would love your help. Please reshare this post so we can reach more siblings. www.sibs.org.uk
Government says police and crime commissioners are a “failed experiment”, with the system due to be scrapped soon.
Given the shenanigans at Hertfordshire’s Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, with bullying claims, cronyism, unprecedented staff jollies and hotel bills, the cull is overdue.
If it’s good enough for a Jedi…

'It took months for the Bush administration’s falsehoods about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq to come to light... For the Trump administration’s warnings of an imminent threat from Iran, it took an afternoon.'

A photo of the front cover of issue 1670 of Private Eye magazine, with the caption “on shelves now.” The main headline reads “TRUMP ATTACKS IRAN,” with a subheading “HOW OPERATION EPIC FURY UNFOLDED.” The cover features four photo panels set in the situation-room with US political figures seated around a table. Speech bubbles add dialogue: “Is the Supreme Leader dead?” followed by “No, Trump always looks like this!”; “Mission accomplished!” answered with “Yes, I’ve killed the Epstein story”; “What happens next?” with the reply “Popular revolt and regime change,” and a follow-up, “In America?”; and finally, “Why have you started this war?” answered with “So that I can stop it,” alongside “I’ll ring the Nobel Committee.”

Interrupting the grim with the light: my book Double Discrimination is out 21 May🔽
It's influenced by my sister Raana, it's on racism and ableism, what happens when you feel both, why that matters (to us all) - and to do about it.

A recent Congressional letter accuses DHS of not being compliant with a major civil rights law due to the mistreatment of disabled ICE detainees. As I reported for @motherjones.com, this is worsened by the fact DHS' office for civil rights has TWO EMPLOYEES now.
