I know this is small potatoes in the grand scheme of things but these guys are paid with your tax money and have no real job. ICE isn't necessary. They don't get rid of criminals. They just terrorize communities. And THAT'S why they should be abolished. No need for reins. It's not a job!

I am not being snarky. I need my colleagues who wrote on covid school lockdowns to engage with this. To be as loud as they have been about prior "learning loss." Hell, you can cite Tom & Mark's AERJ paper so you feel better that there's some econ somewhere in your argument.

If you are a US citizen and think your children are safe because they don’t “look like” this child…

… stop to consider that in our country, now, your children’s safety depends on what they “look like”.

ICE kidnapped a 5-year-old and sent him alone to a facility in Texas. Hell isn't hot enough.

This is why calling them weird creeps was so effective, not just to damage the leadership psychologically, but to make it extremely socially embarrassing to be a known supporter of them in the general public. The point is to make society at large view them as they are, not the force they wish to be.

One of the big media failures of the past decade is the ongoing search for the deeper side of Trump. There isn't one. His ideology, such as it is, is personalist, transactional, and zero-sum. That's as vain, vulgar, and wrong as you can get. He likes gold shit and applause. There's nothing beneath.

This line graph illustrates the percentage change in agency staff levels from the previous year for nine major U.S. federal scientific and health organizations between the fiscal years 2016 and 2025. The agencies tracked include the CDC, Department of Energy, EPA, FDA, NASA, NIH, NIST, NOAA, and NSF. For the majority of the timeline between 2016 and 2023, the agencies show relatively stable fluctuations, generally staying within a range of +5% to -5% change per year. However, there is a dramatic and uniform plummet starting in the 2024–25 period. Every agency depicted shows a sharp downward trajectory, with staffing losses ranging from approximately -15% to over -25%. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) shows the most significant decline, dropping to roughly -26%, while the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) shows the least severe but still substantial drop at approximately -15%.

This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.

Screenshot of a post by Alex Luck criticizing others while showing an auction listing for a painting. The image displays a beach scene artwork featuring palm trees, a pinkish car, ocean waves, and a bright blue sky. Below the artwork is text identifying the artist as Hiroshi Nagai and describing the piece. Beneath that, a quoted post from the Department of Homeland Security repeats the phrase, “The peace of a nation no longer besieged by the third world.”

A Japanese artist made the print DHS lifted to spread anti-immigrant hate. Can't make this up.

As a woman who has been pregnant, given birth, breastfed, and formula fed, the only explanation for this shit is Bobby has a fetish for tiny coffins. Not every woman can or wants to breastfeed. Fed is best.

ALSO, where was he when ICE detained a 2 wk PP mom, without a pump and her milk dried up?

the takeaway from the Zohran Trump meeting is that Trump is a gullible fool who will temporarily bend to the last charismatic person he talked to.

Zohran played him perfectly but that doesn’t mean Trump is good now. He’ll go back to fascism tomorrow morning after he talks to Stephen Miller

Zohran Mamdani doesn’t make me, an American Jew, feel unsafe.

Having the Coast Guard, which falls under the Department of Homeland Security, decide that a swastika isn’t really a symbol of hate? That makes me, an American Jew, feel pretty damn unsafe.

Wakefield’s research was fraudulent. It wasn’t a matter of debate or interpretation, he made shit up and lost his license as a result. Fuck RFK Jr. for trying to validate him. And where are Congressional Dems on this? Where’s the bill to impeach RFK Jr.?

M.I.T. Rejects a White House Offer for Special Funding Treatment

It's clearer by the day that Columbia making a deal with Trump in July was a catastrophe for higher education as a whole. It gave terrible people a bottomless appetite for extortion. The other eight universities must follow MIT's lead.

The number of federal troops needed in Portland is ZERO.

Donald Trump is using taxpayer dollars to manufacture a crisis. If he really wanted to help Oregon, he would reverse cuts to Medicaid and support funding for housing and education.
