Excited to share this work building the case that high quality balanced information can form an important part of pregnancy journeys-work to improve and standardise antenatal education is needed!
Congratulations to @jennymriches who today passed her PhD viva and also published her second paper in @GlobalHealthBMJ in the space of a month! Her thesis has identified key areas where intervention, often simple, may save lives! gh.bmj.com/content/10/1...
Delighted to share this study where we found that antenatal education impacts expectations of birth doi.org/10.1186/s128...
Read our study sharing the experiences of 46 women's antenatal education. Birth expectations are informed by Antenatal Education - if it isn't balanced - a mismatch between expectations and experience may be precipitated. An antenatal education curriculum is needed! doi.org/10.1186/s128...

The image is a graph titled "Reported paralytic polio cases and deaths, United States, 1910 to 2019," from Our World in Data. It shows the annual number of polio cases (in red) and deaths (in green). A sharp decline in both cases and deaths occurs after the introduction of the polio vaccine in 1957, which is marked with an arrow labeled "Vaccine introduced in 1957." The graph illustrates the dramatic impact of vaccination on reducing polio cases and fatalities over time.
Vaccines stopped polio.

Amazing work @jennyriches.bsky.social important findings about burden of death following CS in Malawi
We found a high burden of maternal death following CS in this low-resource setting, particularly related to infection. Multiple health systems factors contributed. There is urgent need to develop and trial interventions to improve the safety of CS in such settings #maternalhealth
