But let’s be clear: openness & protection are two sides of the same coin.
This deal includes robust safeguards- limited tariff quotas & conditionalities for sensitive sectors, continuous market monitoring & tools to act fast to protect EU farmers, if needed.
The EU already has an agri-food surplus of over €2 billion with Australia.
This agreement strengthens that position with full, duty-free access to a high-value market. 🇦🇺 will also protect an additional 450 🇪🇺Geographical Indications because authenticity matters.
