Three crosses
'Jesus uttered a loud cry and breathed his last. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that in this way he breathed his last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!”' (Mark 15: 37-39).
#GoodFriday
Today we pray for:
Good Friday. ‘Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit’ (John 19:30). Give thanks that Jesus saw through the task of salvation #SheffPrayer
Today we pray for:
Maundy Thursday. ‘He poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet’ (John 13:5). Pray for the same humility to mark our churches & their leaders #SheffPrayer

“God is the author of all creation. We've a duty to future generations, and the key test is this – is this tool used in this particular way augmenting or undermining my point in being here?

📻 Revd Lucy Sablan gave a two minute reflection yesterday on BBC Sheffield
'This divine love is sacrificing, selfless, unconditional - but also exposing and challenging. To gaze upon that love, as we do at Easter, is not just to have our desires met but to begin to allow ourselves to be transformed into its likeness'

...". I will follow the evidence without prejudice, wherever it may lead, wholly independent of government, law enforcement, or any other public body.”
"Many who were present at Orgreave have waited most of their lives for a process that listens to them, respects their testimony, and examines the facts without fear or favour...
“While policing has changed significantly since 1984, serious questions about the specific events at Orgreave remain unanswered. I approach this responsibility with impartiality, humility, and a firm commitment to transparency.
Bishop Pete said:
“In chairing the Orgreave Inquiry, I wish to help resolve a trauma that persists to this day – for the miners who were injured at Orgreave, who were arrested at Orgreave, who feel their story has not yet been fully told.
The independent statutory Orgreave Inquiry has formally launched today.
Bishop Pete will chair the Inquiry, supported by a four‑person panel. The Inquiry will operate entirely independent of government and any other public body.

A prayer for the installation of the Archbishop of Canterbury. Almighty God, you call your Church in every age to proclaim the gospel of Christ: look with mercy upon your servant Sarah, and grant that, as deacon, she may care for those in need, as priest, sustain us with the ministry of word and sacrament, and as bishop, guard the faith and build up the body of Christ in holiness. Give her wisdom and kindness that as archbishop, she may promote unity, seek truth, and lead us in the way of righteousness and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Join us in prayer for the Archbishop of Canterbury on the day of her installation. 🙏
'(all the baptised shining as lights for Christ in the world) can bear effective witness to the salvation God holds out to the world in the life, death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus. In that respect, an installation in the week between Passion Sunday and Palm Sunday seems providentially timed.'
'If these are to be the new Archbishops priorities, we are delighted and look forward to the fruit we anticipate in the months and years ahead.
'We pray that during her tenure, the parishes of the Church of England will be revitalised so that the people of God, lay and ordained...
'It is an altogether more ambitious pilgrimage than the one Bishop Pete completed in the week before his installation in September 2017! The walk prioritises three things: prayer, places of worship, and connection with people beyond the boundary of church.
'We pray for her and for her husband Eamonn as she is installed at Canterbury Cathedral. It is highly symbolic Archbishop Sarah has chosen to walk from London to Canterbury in preparation for her installation.
A statement from Bishop Pete & Bishop Leah, ahead of ++Sarah Mullally's installation as Archbishop of Canterbury today:
'A former Chief Nurse has been called by God to be our Chief Pastor, and we are excited about what Archbishop Sarah will give to the Church of England in the coming years.
A magazine cover titled network (Issue 27 / Spring 2026). The photograph shows the exterior of a historic stone church on a bright sunny day, with a tall spire rising into a clear blue sky. The church is surrounded by green grass and yellow daffodils in bloom along a stone path. Trees with bare branches stand behind the church. Text on the cover reads: “Young People Leading Worship • Wear Your Faith Fortnight,” followed by feature titles: “Lent 2026,” “Church Explorers Week,” and “Artificial Intelligence and the Purposes of God.”
