A street in an unknown city, at night time. A woman with wolflike features partially obscured by a loose hoodie walks down the street. The text boxes read: Sometimes I've been asked, if creatures that go bump in the night are real, how do you all stay secret? The truth is, maintaining secrecy around the supernatural is almost distressingly easy. There's a lot of people out there who don't actually want to see, for example, hunger incarnate walking the streets.
The wolflike woman is standing in a coffee shop. In this context it's possible to see she's quite tall, standing head and shoulders above the rest of the people in the shop. Others in the shop are mostly focused on their own lives, but one or two seem to take notice that something about her is a bit unusual as she pays for her coffee and leaves. The text boxes read: If they admitted to themselves that's what they're seeing, they'd have to figure out what to do about it. They have no idea what they'd do about it, so they tell themselves whatever they have to. They tell themselves they didn't see a tail, it was just a trick of the light or a movement of loose fabric. Maybe that person was wearing an unusual custom mask for public disease safety. Maybe that's just more tattoos.
The view cuts to a much shorter woman walking in a grocery store. Despite her overall more human appearance, a hint of wolf ears peeks out through the top of her hair. She's looking nervously behind her at other people at the far end of the aisle. The text boxes read: Sometimes, I've tried going out in human form. It's exhausting though. Imagine trying to hold in a sneeze with your whole body for hours at a time, and you can understand why I don't like doing it for that long. Also, if anything, it's worse. When they start processing your as a potentially Completely Normal Human, some things stand out more. Cut back to the tall wolf woman exiting the coffee shop, taking a sip of her drink. The text box reads: I still put something on though, like this hoodie, to give people's minds at least something to work with.
The text box reads "Otherwise, I get a whole different sort of attention, not "OH NO IT'S A WEREWOLF" more... Cut to a convention center, currently hosting a furry convention. The wolf woman, far more visible in more revealing clothing and without the loose jeans and hoodie covering up, is surrounded by some of the convention-goers. One is saying "Oh your fursuit is so realistic, WOW I've never seen something like this is it animatronic?" Another is saying "Mommy...sorry. Mommy? Sorry. I mean mommy? Sorry." The scene returns to the wolf woman walking down the street, alone with her cup of coffee. Someone in the distance has begun following her. The text box reads: I never get people demanding that I'm an unholy terror, though. They don't want to. Most people don't want to live in a world where supernatural horrors like me exist.
Greetings researchers and welcome to a tale of Site 7, the city it rests under, and why keeping the secret a secret isn't always all that hard.
