I spent most of my day on the sandy eastern shore of Lake Ontario where a flock of Black-bellied Plovers and two Hudsonian Godwits (pictured) spent the day foraging the mud and sand flats.

I managed to capture my favorite Marsh Wren pose last week at my patch. There is something hilarious about their refusal to perch using just one stalk. #birding

A screenshot of the Merlin Bird ID app. There is a recording of the sound waves. (Bird songs) 7 identified birds. Yellow-rumped warbler Black-capped Chickadee White-throsted sparrow House Sparrow Dark-eyed Junco House Finch Black Crow. That was only one minute of standing outside my front door. The Merlin app is run by Cornell University and by identifying birds in your region helps their research!

Does anyone use the Merlin Bird ID app? It's free. It's pretty neat. 7 different birds singing right out my front door. Have a toke and get to know some avian friends.
If you download this app make sure you have wifi and some time to download. There's "packages" that are big files you need to get.🌲

How it started… How it’s going…

When we visited our cabin in north central Pennsylvania in early July, the spongy moths were everywhere and had eaten nearly all deciduous leaves. Returning in mid September, many trees had regrown leaves. I had no idea they would do that! Amazing.
