Hi! Working on it… Blender 4.4 had some changes to the Python API. I fixed these some time ago, but some other new features need a tiny bit of polishing before the release. In the meantime please keep a copy of Blender 4.3 to grow trees - won’t be long…

I usually don't plan new releases, there's just a time when I can just feel the state of the code has reached a level that warrants a new release... And I can tell it's getting close.

A very special release time! The actual simulation now runs on the home page of www.thegrove3d.com - so you can now experience how it grows diverse trees like pine, ash and weeping willow. Shout-out to @bruno-simon.bsky.social for making this technical process super fun! #threejsJourney #threejs

The finishing touch of every release is always a complete run-through of the list of presets, to tweak them to perfection.

A good number of game studios use The Grove. I think Remedy used the trees in Alan Wake 2. SpeedTree's focus is games, with LODs and connections to game engines. The Grove focuses on film and visuals, so have to know your stuff. Game studios use their own tooling to prepare the trees for games.

We contribute to the Blender's dev fund, on a monthly basis.

As @rileyb3d.bsky.social mentions, and that's on point, "There's a long way to go from 0.1% to 2% so GO make a difference and donate. I remember the last big dev-fund push changed the software forever (2.8)".

Make a difference.
