With Tom Lehrer's passing, I suppose this is a moment to share the story of the prank he played on the National Security Agency, and how it went undiscovered for nearly 60 years.

Congrats to the famous Mark Carney, but I can’t help but feel like Michael Bolton from Office Space today.

Here's hoping your Synology migration goes fine. I did the same thing moving from the same 5-bay unit you had to an 8-bay unit, and had no issues.

Canada Post says it has been temporarily laying off striking workers | CBC News The union representing Canada Post workers says the Crown corporation has been laying striking employees off as the labour action by more than 55,000 workers approaches the two-week mark.

Wow that’s a pretty dirty move from Canada Post. Rather than negotiate with the workers, it’s violating the Canada Labour Code and laying people off during the strike. The strike going on longer is going to be at their feet. www.cbc.ca/news/busines...

White pigeon holding a feather

White pigeon holding a feather

Pidgey molted a large feather, and has been playing with it all morning, proudly carrying it around her cage, and wiggling her head to flap it.

Alright, I'm very impressed with the Raspberry Pi Imager. Up 'til now I've used Balena Etcher, but the Pi Imager made it so easy to also configure boot settings like username and password, WiFi, time zone, and SSH, where it even auto-loaded my public key.

Saving the CBC is really about saving Canada Pierre Poilievre reportedly has plans to slash the CBC's budget. That would be a disaster for national unity.

Saving the CBC isn't just about protecting your favourite program or personality. It's about preserving national unity -- and preventing Canada from being subject to a hostile foreign takeover. www.nationalobserver.com/2024/11/19/o...

The first heavy snowfall of the year should always be declared a snow day for Calgary schools, because that would take the school busses and 20% of the cars off the roads. Heck, it should be a snow day for everyone else, as well, so the plows can get out there. Traffic this morning was brutal.
