I just joined a new book club, we read the Women by Kristin Hannah, it was so good!! I can't even count how many times I cried while reading it. We met at a Vietnamese restaurant to talk about the book, it was like a wonderful dream...
White Supremacist Nick Fuentes, who infamously taunted "your body, my choice," has been arrested and charged with battery after spraying a woman in the face with pepper spray.

Part 3: Reading this book of interviews from women who surrendered children for adoption before roe vs wade has been incredibly emotional and sobering as I get ready to write the next chapter of my novel.
Part 2: Since I've started writing this novel the themes of it have become more and more important to me as we see women's rights to birth control and abortion attacked, echoing back to a time when interracial couples were kept apart and women had little autonomy over their bodies.
Korean fried rice and chai for breakfast as I read research for lost daughter, my in progress novel about a white teen girl who falls in love with a Filipino soldier during world war 2. She gets pregnant, her family secretly sends her away to a maternity home and forces her to give up her daughter.
About to watch a live production of Scrooge with my mom and my son! I directed this play in high school just for the fun of it, so I'm excited to see it done professionally!

I'm totally OK with being called woke. It just means that I'm showing off my green flags. Happy to follow others with green flags.

Boy with Down syndrome riding white horse.
Once a week I take my son Benny for riding lessons. His trainer says that her goal is to have him riding independently. She doesn't see his Down syndrome or autism, she sees a boy who loves to ride and who is capable. Best part of my day.
I'm in Tucson and it's now tomorrow but the highlight of my day yesterday was getting to watch my son Benny horse ride, which also meant visiting this miniature horse who is a companion horse for an anxious big horse named Tobey who can't go anywhere without her. Sometimes a friend is all we need.

Met a random Nanowrimo buddy for a writing session and finished a chapter!

This just never gets old for me. Anytime we can inject a little art and beauty into our day to day life we should!
Cats are somehow both the proletariat and the bourgeoisie
They defy all attempts at categorization and just sit on top of the ontological imperative, and stare at you
Anybody else get to the canned goods and just feel like you canned do it? Like maybe those groceries are just fine sitting on the floor there for the next year or so.
The Handmaid's Tale is a good book. But did you know that there's a book written by a Black woman about a post-apocalyptic Earth heavily affected by climate change and societal decline. The book was published in 1993, but is set in 2024 following a presidential election 👀 #BookSky #BlackBookSky
Sitting on my porch drinking tea and reading a David Sedaris book checked out from the library is a great way to start the day.
