It’s part of a trilogy with Place of Dead Roads, not sure what the other one is, my old brain is blanking, but it’s got the White Lodge and Black Lodge which came from the same inspiration source Frost and Lynch pulled from, Psychic Self Defense.
Hell yea! Love that one. I’m about to do a reread of Cities of the Red Night. Haven’t read that one since 1994.
Any time my imagination needs a kick in the ass, reading a little PKD and William Burroughs usually works like good speed.
I think I just wrote the best horror scene I’ve ever written. This book has been a bit of struggle as I try to find the most original path forward and I’ll be damned but I think I just found gold. Now I need to step away for a couple hours and let the next chapter stew. #horrorauthor #horrorbooks

Your monthly reminder:
Keep writing. When no one cares, persist. When things appear to be crumbling, keep at it. When it's difficult, push through. When you feel alone, listen to the stories in your blood. Just write. The world needs your stories.

Heeeey I know a couple of those books! Thanks for the shoutout!
Does it all connect? In my mind. #texaschainsawmassacre #blackflag
The best American movie & my favorite band both reached inside the American Dream & pulled back the wood paneling to reveal the rot festering underneath. Horror and punk rock are powerful vehicles for speaking truth to power.

The third act was a big surprise that I did not see coming but damn I loved it. Favorite read of the year so far and I hope the next book is coming soon!
A tale of vengeance set before, during and after a major hurricane-House is the most haunted crime novel I’ve ever read. Gabino layers in supernatural lore and unleashes hell when the storm reaches its pitch. It’s wildly engrossing and I wanted more and more. 2/
Ok, I’ve let it set in a few days. #HouseofBoneandRain by @gabino.bsky.social is in short another win for Gabino. I’ve been a fan since #ZeroSaints came out, and I think House might be my favorite so far. 1/
On the turntable today, #TheWarriors ftom @waxworkrecords.bsky.social , #JohnColtrane , #DivineHorsemen , and #RollinsBand
The great Joe Tex. This song always gets me…

There’s one movie that’s an obvious comparison, but I won’t mention it in case someone has managed to not be spoiled by all the coverage, but besides surface level plot similarities, Sinners stands on its own. /4
The cast is so damn good and completely disappear into their characters and the world building Coogler pulls off with a bit of dialogue here, an out of left field scene there, makes Sinners one of the most unique viewing experiences you will have had with a film in a long time. /3
And I haven’t even gotten to the writing and directing, which are impeccable. It’s been said the true test of how good a horror movie is, is can it stand on its own if you remove the horror aspect from it. Here, yes, 100%. I was invested in these characters within minutes. /2
I knew I’d be missing out by not seeing #Sinners in the theater, but I was not prepared for how fucking amazing this movie looks, from the first shot it’s a work of art. Aesthetically one of the best looking films I’ve seen in my life, a masterpiece that will inspire generations. /1
I haven’t felt compelled to buy an issue of #TheIncredibleHulk since 1988, when Todd McFarlane was doing the pencils. The cover is exquisite. Hopefully my library will have the first volume of the trade, because I need to read this run now.
