If the last 20 years as an EB/MOTHER fan have taught me anything it's that the more time you spend bemoaning the fact that MOTHER 3 is still not out in the US, is less time you spend creating something to express how much you love the game and how it inspires you to do better by yourself and others.

I've been drawing fan art of this game since the beginning. I wanted so bad to not get spoiled by Super Smash Brothers Brawl, that I had to play MOTHER 3 with a printed script and a rom that only had translated menus in game.

Even then, it was enough to impact me. That's how good it is.

Today marks the 20th anniversary of MOTHER3's release in Japan. A fantastic final entry in an already stellar series, the influence of MOTHER 3 can still be felt today.

If you have never given this game a shot, I urge you to play it when you have a chance, regardless of method.

All this bc I watched some Mega Man X AI generated anime on YT. Comments celebrating it ofc, meanwhile I'm grieving over how AI animation is allowed to shit on the foundation of art as expression and craft, as long as it has vibes and aura and licensed characters with overly detailed metallic sheen.

I tend to avoid this subject because wtf else is there to say, but I fear this is just going to get worse before it gets better. Doomer take sure, but how else am I supposed to feel when I see how quickly people change their tune and stances once they realize the machine has something for them too.

What depresses and shocks me about generative AI is how willing people are to give up their ability to communicate, write, speak, think, express themselves, and all the tools and agency we require as individuals to build our identity, for the sake of expediting tasks and allow them to CONSUME MORE.
