I guess LeCun might be right, but only if language = LLMs.
I don't really see how a world model could exclude the social world, if these models are supposed to interact with humans.
Perhaps if one only aims to model the physical world, but that won't take us too far.

when people talk about AI used in moderation of social media posts, you must remember there is always the human-in-the-loop, often a woman, often in the Global South, always dehumanised and forgotten

I'm no economist, but I think there might be a super interesting case study here, especially on price formation and information asymmetry between buyers and sellers Ă la Akerlof.
Never thought I'd say this, but I miss eBay! At least then you knew what people were willing to pay at a given moment. âčïž
albums with cut-outs from Finnish flea markets and trade them in Germany for store credit, because these records were rare there.
As a former seller on Discogs, I also have serious doubts about their price recommendation algorithm, which appears to push the median price to increase the commission.
People use Discogs as a global database for prices, turning records into *assets* to be traded.
This messes up price formation a local level, which used to be based on supply, demand and *taste*. Some records are more common somewhere, rarer elsewhere.
I used to, for example, buy US mid-70s soul âĄïž
None of my followers probably won't care, but I've been collecting vinyl records for nearly 30 years, and I feel like ranting a bit about @discogsofficial.bsky.social.
I love #Discogs as a database, but hate what it has done to buying and selling records. A thread —ïž

If in the year 2026 you think it is a good idea to edit a special issue for a Frontiers journal, you need to seriously rethink your life decisions.

As DH grows, itâs increasingly important to publish conference papers, but there hasnât been a clear venue for that.
So Iâm thrilled to share this new home for DH proceedings, which will include CHR papers & more.
Thanks to @taylor-arnold.bsky.social for leading this effort!

LÀhiaikoina on tiettÀvÀsti odotettavissa törkyÀ tiedeyhteisöÀ kohtaan. Ketjusta muutama pikavinkki.

African workers labeling data and providing content moderation are the invisible backbone of AI development. They perform critical labor under challenging conditions, often for minimal pay, yet remain absent from our conversations about the AI value chain.
