Oh, gosh, I wasn’t even thinking about that when I remembered the book!

Maybe “Lives of the Monster Dogs”

The lifespan of Hampshire College (1970-2026) almost perfectly maps onto the timeline of a Gen Xer eventually crushed by conformity and capitalism.
Good example of @mkirschenbaum.bsky.social’s textpocalypse thesis. This blog “Worse on Purpose” is surely mostly AI-generated. No citations. Punchy writing with short declarative sentences. Like this. Churned out with extremely low effort. The blog equivalent of AI slop.
Blop.
a screenshot of the "New Bestsellers" list from Substack, with Andrew Tate in the #1 position
Hey, look at Substack promoting Andrew Tate as the #1 new bestseller. The company's amoral leadership & backers will platform anyone, even ludicrously toxic rapists & human traffickers.
You just filled your tank with Freedom™️!!!

Next time Trump travels to Germany they should arrest the war criminal. (Germany being one of the few countries with universal jurisdiction laws.)
In the same way faculty often have to caveat their posts, saying they don’t speak for their institutions, institutions should caveat their posts by saying they don’t speak for their employees.
Infrastructure junkies, this one is for you! This month's free e-book from the University of Chicago is @inquiline.myatproto.social's Oil Beach: How Toxic Infrastructure Threatens Life in the Ports of Los Angeles and Beyond press.uchicago.edu/books/freeEb...
I've taught @samplereality.bsky.social's "10 Lost Boys" a bunch of times over the years and I did again today. I always expect to take some flack for "being political" but I never do. Students seem really struck by it. I watched one young woman laugh and then cover her mouth in shock repeatedly.
Oh, wow, so glad to hear you're teaching it. Your student's reaction is exactly what I was aiming for. Easter Egg: the game is somewhat inspired by an early and rare Don DeLillo short story, "The Uniforms."

So true.
Žižek famously analyzed movies he had never seen and repeated the same anecdotes word-by-word in multiple books. He also straight up made up things.
LLMs have nothing on Žižek.
every time i read about ai agents allegedly blogging about drama, it’s really just some human playing wizard of oz
My deepest condolences. It may sound odd but there’s a vitality in those poems. He sounds like a remarkable man.
I got a blue screen of death on my brand new computer. Why? My parents installed an "anti-virus" before I got home. I rise extatic through all, and sweep with the true gravitation.
It does raise the question, what DO you look like when you’re fighting the crushing weight of capitalism?
I once heard it put that in England, anything more 100 miles is considered far, while in America, anything older than 100 years is considered old.
It's *almost* done! Almost!
And then they’re like, the old cave paintings down the road are 10,000 years old but the “new” cave paintings are only 7,000 years old.
Killer quote from @nathankhensley.bsky.social: “AI products are best understood not as technologies of information (as their backers prefer them to be discussed) but of labor management and the accelerated concentration of wealth.”
The current polycrisis is just a monocrisis in disguise.
The Monocrisis of Capitalism.
LLMs-gone-rogue dominated coverage, but had nothing to do with the targeting. Instead, it was choices made by human beings, over many years, that gave us this atrocity. www.theguardian.com/news/2026/mar/26/ai-got-...
Spain always fucks with my American sense of time. They'll be talking about the "new" cathedral, which turns out was built in 1780s. Meanwhile the "old" cathedral from the 13th century was built over a mosque that was finished in the 9th century.
The dew point reads 52.2°F && okay, count it: 13 seconds between every crest. Maybe someday... maybe soon, my friends in stations and seas🕳 have. or what brings you today? Just me and some° noize? Might as well see what the skies say. Remember always seek adventure. Now
I mean the less funny thing to consider is that the reason Sora got discontinued so shortly after OpenAI signed a military contract is that those GPUs are gonna be busy
