I was pointing out the practicalities of rejoining. Any referendum is years, if not decades away. Demographics and global politics might frame things very differently by the time it comes round. I suspect joining the SM + CU, and other EU institutions, will come first.

While rejoining the EU will mean eventually adopting the € and Shengen, the key word being “eventually” as in reality they’ll probably be a very long way off happening after joining, they’ll find ways of kicking those cans down the road for a very long time…
But can you imagine the tantrum, the endless whining and lying from them like we’re still getting from Matt Bad loser after Denton ????

Not killing people seems like a good plan to me. Personally I’m a bit of a fan of not being dead.
Ok then, does the bread magically appear on the shop’s shelves? Please explain the business model of food retail where implementing a maximum selling price doesn’t either causes a loss to the retailer or has next to no effect. Just because you don’t understand doesn’t mean I’m making it up…

For everyone reading this who was hoping to see some tits, well here you go;
I’ve not made anything up. Very basic business principles. Sorry if that goes over your head 🤷♂️
“If re elected the SNP will set a maximum price…”
If the supplier charges the retailer more than the maximum set by the government, how is the shortfall covered?
Given margins in grocery food retail are ~3%, if the max is set above the suppliers price, the law will have very little effect.
Said what?
“Free” prescriptions are paid for by the taxpayer (which I agree with btw). So are you advocating for bread milk etc to be similarly funded? The government still pays the pharmacist to dispense the drug, are they going to pay Co op, Tesco or whoever for “dispensing” the bread milk etc?
I suspect even the big supermarkets, who work in wafer thin margins of 2-4%, won’t stomach this for long, even if they up the prices on everything else to claw it back
If Steve who owns the local Nisa buys his loaves from the bakery at 60p but the government caps the retail price at 50p does he:
A) sell every loaf at a 10p loss
B) get a subsidy to cover the loss from the taxpayer
C) stop selling bread
????
I’ve got my checked shirt on. Number of buttons fastened and sleeves rolled up or not depending on how hot I am.
Apparently it’s rather trendy for a middle aged man like me, despite last wearing it when I was a teenager in the 90s…
Has the pope read the bible? That’s like asking where bears do their poos isn’t it?
Ditto mail/parcel delivery, transport
On the plus side we got lovely smooth pavements and the pot holes repaired, probably the first new tarmac our road has seen since nineteen eighty something 🤣
Oh. We had that at the end of our street a few months ago. Are you getting the vibrations aa well as the noise? Even at a bit of a distance I thought I was going to lose a filling at one point
Vance the sofa-shagger? Definitely both.
Looks about 8 at most so barely a floor more than neighbours.
Yes. Same where I worked. Lots of routines on place to try and eliminate that happening.
Old dual carriageway where it’s made single carriageway and old carriageway is now cycle path
It’s not like there isn’t a way of dealing with old dual carriageways. The old A556 isn’t perfect but:
Well exactly. There would need to be a routine at the checkout to inform you so the retailer is covered by the “invitation to treat” clause, before you pay and they are in the wrong. Doing that for the 1000s of shoppers a day in a single typical supermarket would destroy efficiency/productivity
Ah religion.
“You must believe in god!”
“No no not like that…”
Ironic given so much of the biggest traditions of the “Christian” holidays are pagan in origin.
In the morning his VERY ANGRY wife frog marched him back into the shop to apologise to me…
Too right. But we still got it 😞
In my first management role, left in charge of a small “metro” at the tender age of 23, I took great delight in throwing out a very abusive customer, without what was clearly the ingredients for his evening meal, just before closing time, with no 24hr stores nearby…
Until the big chains opened their c-stores certain chains like SPAR were notoriously pricey. But that one on Oxford Rd knew their market and gouged it completely.
I think there’s some middle ground. I’m all for rebuilding numerous roads (while also making them more active travel/pedestrian friendly) but there are plenty of 30mph roads here that would suit a 20mph limit readily, while there are some dual carriageways you would change the sign to a higher km/h
