Hand written notes which read: "is this how time normally passes? Really slowly, in the right order?"
New project moving from my head to note taking phase. Exciting!

Eurotrash? I made the mistake of reading that this year. Never again
Reminded as well of value of a conference for being a place to sit and talk with colleagues about ideas and big conceptual approaches and orientations. Just the free wheeling ideas stuff that gets missed in day-to-day life of university.
Really great time at the @sspatleeds.bsky.social Disability Studies Conference this week. Especially wonderful to be on the same panel as @harveyhumphrey.bsky.social and be able to bring our various work on crip time into an irl conversation.
I sense "the gladiator?" is not the answer but I don't know, I kind of like the idea you're ideologically opposed to learning the kid orientated lore they make up about them all
Christ it would be lovely to live in a world that didn’t consider it worse to be mentally ill and/or cognitively-impaired than simply deeply evil and deeply incompetent.
Where every other fucking tweet about Trump wasn’t “he’s crazy” or “got away from his carer”.
Wes Streeting - and Pink News - are opportunistic liars who think we're gullible enough to swallow anything. If you want to know how Streeting actually treats trans youngster, just listen to Trans Kids Deserve Better: transkidsdeservebetter.org/kids-are-dyi...
Disingenuous prick. He has embedded transphobia as policy. He has denied young trans people access to medication and support. His government has brought back a version of Section 28 against trans young people. He is actively denying trans and non-binary individuals safety and respect.
Are @pinknews.bsky.social going to publish a response to Streeting from the numerous trans parent and guardian support groups that are fighting for their family’s life? What about the trans kids themselves?
This could have been an opportunity to do actual journalism, to do a line by line debunking rather than publish state propaganda. But that would require a spine.
That this has run, without any suggestion of response or fact checking, in Pink News of all places has shocked me. This is a pile of lies. Out and out lies and gaslighting. Pink News is over - barely a week since they announced they were firing their journalists. www.thepinknews.com/2026/04/03/w...
I'm listening to the BBC Sounds "David Bowie Changeling" series and half way through I've suddenly realised the slightly unreal element to it is because Kate Moss's speaking voice sounds like an AI.
Back in the olden days, once a year you'd get some money from ALCS. This made some sense as people paid to access the articles. Now my university pays eyewatering amounts for OA so my articles are free to read. I don't get any money but the journal makes more money than they did. That right?
Just started hailing from a sunny blue sky here in Southampton. I was stood in the garden trying to put washing on the line, entirely disoriented.
Oh it's so fun;

Did you see the filing where they describe it as a satirical joke?
To be honest, that's usually my first thought. It's definitely what would motivate me in such a role.
A silentnight box for a "snuggle pod: human pet bed" product
Today in "should have got a queer to check that product name"
@melissamarsdenphd.bsky.social Hello, I've just come across your article on disability and DS9 and wondered if you could share a copy with me as I'd love to read it! intellectdiscover.com/content/jour...
MLA is a ridiculous referencing style and should not be allowed to continue. That is all.
Roehampton Academic Education Limited does (and came into existence last year). Director is George Turner, the COO of Roehampton. Feels a little like a series of bluffs, doesn't it?
Two out of three bedrooms don't have windows. I just...what.
An IKEA Blahaj spills over the top of a brown office box, behind him more black packing crates are visible
Pity poor Blahaj, we are moving offices
Yes!!! Overachievers that we were.
Justified. And representative of my frustration
Here's another week from a different module: Orlando, A Room of One's Own, two chapters of Women and Writing, two critical articles.
You can do SO MUCH in an hour seminar when your cohort is doing this much prep. I am sad I don't get to do this kind of informed discussion with students
The era of setting reading and having students do it is over. The other week I set a 8 page cartoon, I'm not sure anyone read that either.
A typed page for English MA: Sexuality Fiction and Subculture. There is a brief intro blurb, details on seminars and assessment, and two weeks of core readings. In week 1 this is parts 1-3 of History of Sexuality, and two chapters from two other texts. Week 2 specifies all of The Well of Loneliness and Angles in America 1
Attempting to clear my office before packing (moving from it for renovation) and got stuck on reading list from my MA. Can you imagine expecting students to read a play and a novel in one week (plus we all did extra from recommended) on a single module, now?
I felt the same. I should put something of hers back on my list actually, nice reminder!
