A photo collage featuring a young dancer clinging to a window sill. Her face is down, shielded from the horrors of the world. Flames engulf the frame. The mood is melancholy and a little hopeless.

Things We Lost in the Fire #2

I don’t know about y’all. But I am *struggling* with art right now.

(Perhaps because everything feels so #fake right now, kinda like everything I’ve ever known is a lie.)

An Official “The Apprentice” Donal Trump doll sits on a red lip couch with a much younger-looking Skipper doll. Cigarettes, alcohol, cocaine, gifts from Victoria’s Secret and other accoutrements are scattered around the scene. Trump is undressed enough to expose his micro-penis and is pushing Skipper’s head down toward it, while Rembrandt’s “The Abduction of Ganymede” hangs over the scene in the background.

“Unredacted”

Why, might you ask, would I choose to spend precious time right now crafting the world’s tiniest air clay penis?

Well.

Some of us scream into our pillows at night.

Some of us make art about it.

Some of us do both.

A composite of multiple layered photographs. This piece includes an antique composite baby doll with a sign pointing to her mouth that reads “Meth Sold There.” A skull rests on the baby doll’s tongue, while a sinister figure lingers on the left edge of the frame. Additional texture and layers create a sense of unease. The words, “as long as you have a young and beautiful piece of ass” crawl along the bottom edge. Another semi-nude baby doll anchors the bottom right of the image, her dress falling down revealing the top of her bum drives the point home. The piece leaves the viewer with a sense of unease as the artist grapples with difficult sentiments in a world where nothing makes sense right now as geopolitical tensions rise and our own homegrown pedophile in chief throws gasoline on the proverbial fire.

“Meth Sold There”

First piece of 2026.

Y’all. I *struggled* last year.

Making art is hard when the world is on fire.

On the one hand, it feels more urgent than ever. On the other hand, it feels more meaningless than ever.

A surreal, dreamscape photographic collage made from multiple images overlaid. A woman looks off into the distance while a stairway climbs over her shoulder, leading to a doorway. The door opens to a nebulous dark: maybe clouds, maybe a starburst, maybe a black hole, maybe nothing. Grounding and background elements include brick work, lavender clouds, sprawling vines, a “one way” street sign, and pink flowers.

This is an alternate version I almost finalized.

Agonized back and forth between the open doorway with clouds or the nebulous emptiness.

Liked the dark better visually, but the bright better metaphorically.

Also teased something in between, but it just missed the mark.

Lavender Clouds.

A Stairway.

Though

still not sure where it goes.

New piece, made for #SelfPortraitSunday.

iPhone #collage, 2025

This one plays with #duality more than usual. See comments for details/alternate.

Young ballerinas in long, pale blue gowns dance around the stage. The flurry of flowing skirts dominates the frame. A double exposure outlines the shape of the dancers, like hazy spirits floating larger than life across the scene.

I tend to think buildings and manmade constructs when I think #angles but I love how the geometry of these young dancers in motion lines up.

Yes. It’s such a complicated balance. But we’re doing a really great job of ignoring that balance and just destroying everything.

I live in this area and I’m watching acre after acre razed for new housing developments.

Came out here to get away from all that, but “progress” is everywhere.

The sun sets over Kings Creek Country Club golf course, near Cedar Creek Lake in east Texas.

Pink and orange sunlight rolls across the hills and settles in the pond, while a storybook rock bridge gently rises over the water. The grass needs to be mowed; it tickles the edge of the frame, inviting the viewer in for an evening stroll.

This used to be sprawling forest.

We razed giant oak, cedar, pine, redbud, dogwood… all in the name of development. First for the lake, then for housing, businesses, and recreation.

This is what deforestation looks like.

Beautiful, isn’t it?

Free speech feels like an illusion right now, or a dream I just woke up from.

As a photographer, I feel it haunting me in the streets, lurking over my shoulder.

Love this photo!

It’s worth noting this is from NYC’s pride parade in 1994. Which I think makes it even more special and important to remember to love love right now. 🌈 💕

Selfie in a window reflection in Tucumcari, New Mexico. Clutching my Yashica-D twin lens and a Barbie doll in my right hand, while balancing a red iPhone in the left. The Blue Swallow Motel lights up in the background. Feeling extra touristy in my bright blue Route 66 t-shirt I picked up because I didn’t pack enough for the trip. 💁🏻‍♀️

Really enjoying it here on BlueSky in a way I haven’t since MySpace. Looking forward to “meeting” more of you!

Hi. 👋

I’m still new here. Came to make friends with artists and #HumansofBlueSky who are also disenfranchised with the current social media climate.

I’m a #photography based artist and commercial #photographer based in #Dallas.

Pleased to meet you.
