Are you trying to embed a link to a note? If so, adding a preceding "!" to the normal link syntax "![[example.md]]" works. And the ! syntax also works with some URLs using the normal markdown link syntax π΄
Obsidian has native "move line/selection up/down" commands. I set hotkeys for these (ALT+up/down arrows). Not quite drag-n-drop, but I've been using it for years now so it has become second nature for me and is undoubtedly an essential feature π΄

I work on lots of scattered projects and have used @obsidian.md for all my thinking and notes for years now.
I just stumbled across smartconnections.app and *wow*. It's a local transformer model which finds connections with old notes and ideas as you type. Incredibly valuable for me at the moment.
ah sweet! iβm so glad someone has found something useful in the colophon! thatβs what theyβre all about βΊοΈ
smart connections is great, it makes links to things i forgot i read, but that immediately brings back a memory of a thought as soon as i see the connection.
Just in case you don't want to be restricted to a single handwriting medium, I've been using ChatGPT to transcribe my handwriting and insert directly into Obsidian for well over a year now, the accuracy is >99% youtube.com/shorts/VjoN2...
Nice. Ad hoc plugin generation is definitely the way. A lot of times it's even faster than looking for potentially existing plugins and figuring out whether they actually do what you want π΄

It depends. Plugins are dependencies. And you should only depend on those you trust.
For a plugin you can trust, check out Smart Connections.
But don't take my word for it, the full bundled plugin is only ~1MB, so you can easily drop it in Gemini and have it do a security audit before install.

HTML+JS+CSS already exists. The historic layers of abstraction (previously necessary for human productivity) are already starting to peel away π΄
Nice! I spin up lots of single-use plugins with AI. Soon the Smart Environment architecture will be sufficiently stable so that people can use AI to create their own Smart Plugins, without having to reinvent the wheel for all the underlying model wrappers and data stores, too ππ΄

Best option doesn't mean perfect option. Hopefully they'll see this as an opportunity for an easy improvement π΄
I was trying to explain @obsidian.md to my musician friend. He uses Google Docs.
To demonstrate, we exported a document in both markdown and Microsoft word formats.
Then we opened both in notepad, markdown first. "See, you can still read it."
Then the word file, he goes "hieroglyphics?!?"
