Cuties!!

If you have questions later don't hesitate to reach out! I love talking chickens 💕
Most bantam breeds will give you between 3-4 per week on average so you can plan out about how many birds you'd want based on that! Most people for small flocks do 4-8 hens and find that they have more than enough eggs 😊
OEGBs are my most friendly & outgoing bantams + come in loads of colors!
Yeah really sucks someone is keeping a rooster in that situation! I love chickens but do NOT blame you for being upset over the noise!
Some photos of my ADULT full grown hens. They are different breeds of bantams; serama, Old English Game Bantam, white-faced spanish, sebright and another OEGB. No rooster is required for eggs either!
They require 1sqft per bird in coop + 4sqft per bird in run, so not much at all honestly!
A chick in the middle of hatching from its egg. It has the shell cracked in half, and is taking a little rest before shoving the rest off.
Two chicks sitting in an incubator. The chick on the left has just hatched and is still wet, while the one on the right is all dry and fluffy.
Two chicks in an incubator curled up together sleeping. One is still wet from hatching while the other is all cute and fluffy.
Eggciting news on the homestead today! The bobtail Cochin chicks are hatching and all too cute ❣️

What a pretty pair of ladies!
You could look into getting a few bantams if your area allows! They are small and cute and take up way less space! They come in a huge number of colors too ❣️
Aww man that sucks! I agree that having a rooster in an urban area can be pretty rude. If you can figure out who it is maybe ask if they'd consider using a crow collar? It makes them much quieter!
Oh no! That happens though, chickens are not as happy and friendly as they appear. I often have to take 1-2 weeks of a bird inside a small pen of the run for the flock I'm adding them to so they don't get beat up right away. Wishing poor Edna luck settling into her new flock 💕
That's the most fun part of having different breeds! Each breed has a general feel in their personalities! It's not just about looks, though that always makes a great visual to see a little array of colors & patterns in your flock ❤️
I find bribery (treats) makes friends fast!
Aww they were such pretty girls too! ❤️
Yep a frizzled black cochin boy!
Banshee is a little mille fleur old english game bantam! It's super similar to the speckled (called spangled in the oegb breed) though, and both are def wonderful colors ❤️
Looks delicious!
A flock of chickens swarms around a half of a melon, there are several different colors of chicken. The melon instead of being the typical red inside is white.
A flock of chickens browsing a scattering of orange marigold blooms to eat them. There are several different plots of chickens.
For today's #BirdOfTheDay with the theme #WhatTheFlock what is better than some colorful chickens enjoying some garden snacks!

Very neat and unusual looking goose!
What a cute little flock!
Look at all those cuties 😍
Your rooster is very handsome!
Aww she's so pretty!!

Blast from the past, but this is Bomboloni showing off his crossbeak. With regular trimming he was actually able to live an entirely normal life, though that may not be true of all cases!

A very beautifully patterned old English game phantom hen leans in close to camera. She is mille fleur in color, which is buff with the individual feathers being tipped in Black and then white at the very end for a very striking appearance.
Banshee always wants to know what is up!

Honestly always something so satisfying about the bright blue and green eggs! Always makes me happy to see them in my kitchen.
That's a lot of eggs and such a nice little rainbow! ❤️
The shelf liner provides eggcellent grip for fresh hatched chicks! This prevents splay legs so well I use one every incubator hatch. This time it's also preventing tiny feet from getting caught in the upright egg holder too!
These eggs were shipped! They survived a week in the mail, but this means they ended up with damaged air cells, you can even see where I marked it out. To give eggs like this the best chance of hatching incubating vertically & gently twisting is key. This includes staying vertical even at hatch.
3 eggs inside of an incubator. They are sitting upright and on top of a bright teal shelf liner. They have a thin line drawn on top to mark out where their air cells where, as well as a small black heart to indicate it was growing a small chick.
Guess who has five little bobtail Cochin eggs in their incubator ready for lockdown? Big thank you to dearjuneberry.com for these eggs!

Cute photo!
A photo of hens surrounding one other hen who is digging a very deep hole. The hole is so deep that the only part of the hen digging visible is her tail feathers and fluffy butt. They are digging next to the wire, giving it an appearance of a jailbreak
A photo of a hen digging a different hole than the one that appeared in the previous photo. The hole is so deep that the only part of the hen digging visible is her tail feathers and fluffy butt. They are digging next to the wire, giving it an appearance of a jailbreak
Where are you ladies digging to? 🤔
