Hi everyone -
Do you have to use your car because there is no public transport in your area? Do you have to do mutual obligations right now? Would you feel comfortable chatting for a story? Please message me here or email: cait.kelly@theguardian.com

Taking from disabled people to give to people in aged care is a cynical political exercise from Labor.

Pitting people who genuinely need care against each other while leaving $17 billion in the pockets of gas corporations they’re too cowardly to tax is shameful.

There are also multiple Pokemon cars I see around here, not sure what's in the water! So many Nintendo legends!

A photo of a small, white car with large Kirby decals all over it. It has a pink numberplate, and over the fuel cap is a sticker of Kirby in "inhaling" mode

This car parked near my house 😂
I think the sticker over the fuel cap is my favourite thing.

Oh sure, I want those things. But I also would prefer we could have them without regional residents suffering intensely first.
They should ration fuel in the city so people stuck out in far flung places can still get to their chemo sessions..

Yeah, there's part of me that feels like this, but also there are people who are really doing it tough because they have no PT options. I read an article about cancer patients on the south coast being unable to get to treatment in Sydney, for example :(
People living in cars really struggling..

I just.. wtf is going on in Liverpool? I thought my mayor was a horrible bully, but apparently the bar can go lower..
Feel really bad for the ladies who were doxxed :(

By car it's only 25 minutes. And the government wonder why people are still driving in a fuel crisis. Maybe because they've provided no other realistic options??

I'd be more into the government's idea of transforming Parramatta into a business and cultural destination if they improved transport to get there.
No trains to Parramatta this weekend, and all other PT options will mean it takes more than 90 minutes to get there from Sydney's inner west.

Oh great, that's even better!

Joining the Greens here has been the biggest balm for this feeling you describe. Just being with other people who are equally horrified by the state of the world is comforting, but getting to take organised action to try and fix shit is even better. Gives me hope!

LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY - Signing ePetition - Free and expanded public transport

Hey NSW, there is now a Parliamentary petition for free and improved public transport - if it gets 20,000 signatures it will be debated in the Legislative Assembly: www.parliament.nsw.gov.au/la/Pages/ePe...

Great news for our rights!
You shouldn't have to brave pepper spray (which I've sadly learned from experience really hurts), physical assault or intimidation from our police force just for wanting to peacefully protest something you believe in.

Woohoo, congrats! Though also to Take This, they are lucky to have you! ❤️

OK I'm clearly not a fan of cars, but what a judgemental headline..

Governments should in fact be ashamed of responding to a crisis in a way that makes this crisis and the next one hurt us more

They should be *increasing* taxes on luxury SUVs, private jets, cruise ships etc to fund generous subsidies for public and active transport, better services, small EVs

I see @climateandtransit.bsky.social posting them on Instagram quite often, as an example. After following that account I came to terms with being old :(

I feel like there are Gen Z coded image memes, mostly because I do not understand them at all.
Realising this makes me sound old as fuck, but they seem to feature tiny text with no capital letters. And horses running on beaches for some reason.

This is a bit vague, and not work related, but there are still so many moments in life where I have this feeling.
Mouth activating before brain seems to lead to people handing me responsibilities I am very not qualified for. And I never learn my lesson. Yolo, learn as I go it is..
