For the last 2 nights I have dreamt of falling from great heights, and yet landing safely. Not sure what it means. It wasn't a nightmare. Somehow I knew there would be a way to live through it. Maybe just my brain trying to deal with the world as it is, and trying to reassure me that I'll survive.

Love Frodo. But I miss Mrs. Whatshername with the cheeserolls.
Long green leaves with a stalk of white bell-shaped flowers growing out of a crack between a sidewalk and a wall.
Invasive, you say? I had no idea...

Like a fool, I put my peppers and squash into the ground. It's been in the 80's all week here. Almost put the tomatoes in. And we'll have lows the mid-30's this weekend. Grr.
Woohoo! New Iron Druid stories out today! Get thee to thy favorite bookmonger and enjoy! And let your Iron Druid peeps know it’s out, eh?
It must be spring - I have my first case of poison ivy.

I literally had to say it out loud to get it. Now I can't stop chuckling.
This is not a painting, it's the view from beneath an ancient oak.

Green foliage dotted with 4-petalled white flowers.
The rock cress that I started from seed is really spreading this year. It's up with the daffs, so a nice early one. And the bees are loving it.
Meanwhile, want to support a writer-about-wizards who's (a) been doing it longer than the younger, less experienced writer, and (b) doesn't like ruining people's lives? Try these. (Not if you're in the UK, sorry: Brexit...) bit.ly/YWNMESET
"Solar is leading the surge, dominating new power capacity, while wind and large scale battery systems are expanding quickly to keep grids stable and reliable. At the same time, advances in battery technology are making energy storage cheaper and more efficient than ever before."

The shaving scene in Pan's Labyrinth had me on the edge of my seat.

Have you seen David Gaughran's latest video? Seems like there are some sneaky automated things that should be turned off in the ads to target them better. He's usually very precise about building a good ad. I haven't gotten around to checking it out yet.
My sales on Amazon are single digits right now. Lowest ever. Thank goodness for Kobo. They are taking up some of the slack.
There is a thing called freezer tape...it's like masking tape and sticks to my plastic bags well. I avoid using a sharpie directly on the bag. When I was working in a hospital pharmacy, they discovered that the ink was contaminating IVs and stopped writing on the bags. Scary lesson learned.
It's the newest writers who are the most vulnerable. The 1st short story I sold, the editor decided to rewrite it, changing the tone completely. I was so green that I thought maybe that was the way things were supposed to go. I ended up withdrawing it, but it was tempting to bend for that 1st sale.
Green leaves and fuzzy little flower buds.
A mystery plant just showed up in the garden. I was about to rip it out as a weed, but it had flower buds on it. I have been trying to fill in spots with wildflowers, so this could be something I tossed into the garden last year. I'll wait until it blooms to decide. #wildflowers #garden
Just broke a reading dry spell by starting Rivers of London. What a great read. Really enjoying it. Thanks Ben Aaronovitch for being such a good writer!
Going Down was a song I played until the tracks wore out.
Beautiful. Land of my ancestors. Hope to visit someday.
This week has been crazy warm, but I haven't gotten much done in the yard. Between allergies and a very sick cat, I just didn't have the energy.
I can see how an author would be interested. Summaries of previous books in a series for readers to catch up before the next one comes out, for one. But is it really a closed system? Is there any way to prove your work isn't being absorbed beyond the initial intent?
We got a new kitty from the Humane Society, 10 years old. Apparently she has bone problems, maybe arthritis. She can't crouch very well. We put her food up on yoga blocks and it really helps her. Weren't using the block anyway.
A rhododendron bush with it's leaves curled against the cold and covered in snow.
Cold rhodies with snow hats outside my office window.
This was very helpful. As a small author who watched book sales plummet this year, I was frozen with indecision about how to react. Yay - don't buy my books from *them*, and Yikes - the royalties are flatlining. Still on the fence about FB advertising. It's making a tough job so complicated.
The Kickstarter for the last Adventures Dark and Deep supplement (at least for a long time) is now live! Please help me make this book a reality.

I can't believe I'm posting this video - but we actually have to have a conversation about the real world implications of America going to war over Greenland.
Let me walk you through it. It doesn't turn out well for us.
I kept waiting for things to settle down so I could get back to normal. It has finally sunk in that it never will. I need to carry on living my life despite the chaos. Oof that's a hard one.
I've recently become a big fan of the purple veiny ones. This one is a beauty.
