Not only can it be time consuming for those who aren't Zotero/EndNote wizards, but we often do it incorrectly anyway and take longer than a copy editor. The task of mastering multiple styles discourages publishing in different fields. Seems inefficient!

#hottake or nah? Authors shouldn't have to format their own citations/references for peer-reviewed publications!
“Many programs are...funded just barely enough...to have part-time implementation for things like violence interruption...that really was [at] the core of, ‘How do we find sustainable long-term funding…to really put a base on these organizational structures?’” - SID4
🚨 Funding for CVI is in peril. Our study in Health & Justice provides detailed, practical lessons from states that have successfully leveraged #Medicaid to fund #CVI.

After expansion of adult court jurisdiction subsided, it is reemerging in several states around the U.S. I recently wrote a policy brief focused on these issues. scholars.org/contribution...
Admittedly in my feelings after uncovering writings from a workshop I taught in Sing Sing CF in 2013 where we listened to songs about justice and students journaled their reactions. Here (with permission) is one student's reaction to Hurricane by Bob Dylan. The words remain all too relevant.
#WFH views...art, plants, and of course Dr. Strange memorabilia.

Same. I've got four to do in the next two weeks. I know I can say 'no' to these things, but here I am hoping the rest of the discipline pays it forward 🥲
One of the questions after my talk today was about scientists refusing to buck the administration because they fear losing their jobs.
I said that a lot of self-styled apolitical scientists lost their jobs this week, so silence will not save them. Respond and keep your values and dignity.
The email has not yet made its way to me, but I won't hold my breath. Something tells me they won't skip over the Du Bois Fellowship...
Training in Muay Thai and kickboxing while in grad school taught me a lot about what one can still achieve when things are looking bleak. How about that for interdisciplinary!
I hope that we wise-up fast: find alternative funding, collect our own data (and share it widely), call banned terms by other names...whatever it takes to do the important work.
One of my fears is that academics will take to complaining as their main act of resistance. My guess is that many have existed in a place of privilege for so long that they have yet to experience a direct threat to their livelihood the likes of which many are experiencing now.

Clear writing. Fearless transparency about study shortcomings. Honest assessment of the applicability of findings. Thoughtful discussion of what needs to come next. To name a few!

My only consolation is that you're not alone 😔
🫠 I feel like I'm just trauma bonding with fellow researchers at this point.
Ugh, I'm so sorry to hear that! 😔
Using Federal funding, no less!

What a time to study #racialdisparities in the #justicesystem 🫠
Who's coming with me?!?
Influx of methods/theories/interventions at the intersection of CJ/health/public health. E.g., epidemiology of crime, harm reduction, social determinants of health
It was surreal sharing my research on funding #violenceintervention through #Medicaid with policymakers the day after an R-congressman proposed a bill that would outlaw this very practice. What now? We take stock, we persist, we adapt. That has never changed!
