That said, adding KIT days negatively impacted my maternity leave and I would only do it again if I felt I had to.
I’m self employed and also have FT contracts teaching at a university. I ended up getting maternity pay through the uni rather than the maternity allowance because even though it was statutory, I could at least add some KIT days, which also helped prevent them replacing me when my contract was up
