Another night and day ensue
We cannot bear to see this through
The giant's boldness tests our resolve
We cannot let our hopes dissolve
For forty days he wears us down
Our leader's not worthy of the crown
Who will in fact meet in the fight
And return us all to the great light?
Posts by Roger D. Linder
The day at end, he comes again
We cannot pray, we're filled with pain
The giant's presence we can't abide
We only know God's on our side
Day after day, the jeers renew
These kind of threats we must eschew
The constant beating of his chest
We cannot bow to his request
Forty Days of Terror
Composer: Roger D. Linder
We seek our prayers, we cannot fight
The demon comes out from the night
To us he issues horrid threats
He wants to take us all in death
"Bring him here," a spent Sam cried.
"I came to pick, I thought I'd die.
Bring the youngster out to me.
Oh, to hope a King he'll be."
And the Lord said...
"He has not a silly name
He is just the thing
He will have the real fame
He will be the king."
Then the Lord said...
"He has such a silly name.
That is just the thing.
There's no chance of real fame.
He just can't be king."
So one by one, he met them all
And all of them the Lord appalled
"Is there no one left here to wield?"
"Only David out in the field."
And the Lord said...
"He has such a silly name.
That is just the thing.
There's no chance of real fame.
He just can't be king."
Now Samuel began to fret
He wringed his hands, began to sweat
The next one up was brave Shammah
The Lord let out a great guffaw
But the Lord said...
"He has such a silly name.
That is just the thing.
There's no chance of real fame.
He just can't be king."
Samuel then was at a loss
"Bring out your next, your number two.
Abinadab could be the boss!"
The Lord said "Clearly, he won't do."
Then Samuel shook, and pleaded thus
"It's Saul I fear, he'll rid of us!"
The Lord said, "There's no need to fear.
Just take a calf, it will be clear."
So Samuel met with Jesse's sons
Met Eliab, cried "He's the one!
Handsome guy, a King he'll be!"
He then began to take a knee
The Sons of Jesse
Composer: Roger D. Linder
The Lord told Sam, "I'm sick of Saul.
I need him out, he has to fall
You'll find his heir in Jesse's son
Go meet him and I'll pick the one."
A horde of cowards, all I see
I soon expect you all to flee
You cannot face this champion
I now declare, I've already won
I see you shiver in your tracks
I see it's courage that you lack
You're nothing but a losing force
Inaction will be your great remorse
Is there not one among you still
Who could come down from you little hill?
And fight with me, though you will die
To take up now the battle cry?
Goliath's Threat
I'm Goliath, here's the plan.
Why an army against one man?
You are Saul's, declare the one
Bring him here, or turn and run.
Fight me, kill me, we'll be slaves
Lose and no one will be saved
I cannot see a champion there
Who will you pick to meet my glare?
Clad he was in armor strong
His fearsome spear was twice as long
As any other in the throng
Such a mammoth man
Head protected, helmet on
Body covered, bulging brawn
Weapon carried, armed and drawn
So it all began
Goliath of Gath
Goliath was a big man
Nearly ten feet tall
No one could have met him
Eyeball-to-eyeball
Could have weighed a half-ton
Maybe a lot more
No one dared to fight him
He would win the war
Who stands among us
In this army of Saul?
Who will now lead us?
Who answers the call?
Attackers retreating
They cannot advance
We've established our stronghold
They don't have a chance
We'll teach them a lesson
They'll never forget
Our forces are mighty
And that is our threat
Mountain to Mountain
Composer: Roger D. Linder
Mountain to mountain
The valley below
The battle engages
Animosities grow
Where is our champion
Who will he fight?
A warrior so daring
A warrior of might
We'll clothe him in armor
Protect at all costs
The best of all weapons
We can't bear a loss
The valley lies between us, our safety is ensured
The valley is our defense, vict'ry is secured
The valley us our stronghold, we can and must endure
The valley lies between us
The valley lies between us
The Israelites together, on another hill
We'll face them all together, a victory fulfill
Together we will face them, this time it's not a drill
We are all together
We are all together
The Philistines Gather

>>> Next Song
The Philistines gather, that place upon the hill
The Philistines gather, we bear them no ill will
The Philistines gather, for us it is no thrill
The Philistines gather
The Philistines gather
But then one asks, how do you fight it?
Did you care to feed a Zong?
Aren't you way too hypocritic
Maybe it's you in the wrong
Then I look at Zongs I've busted
Sits at a low and shameful three
So before I go pointing fingers
I turn around and point at me
Zong City is a little town
Whose population booms
A place where songs may go to die
At least what one assumes
In truth, maybe they're long forgotten
To never see the light of day
Such high hopes I had for my words
I feel I've never had my say.
Mr. George H. had it right
"Isn't it a pity?"
I feel the same where I reside
A place I call Zong City
I sometimes spend a little time
And sometimes way too much
I wonder if it is just me
I'm really out of touch?
Zong City

I can't do it alone, help is on its way.
If you'll help me along, we'll see a new day.
Political upsets are getting me upset.
Branding our minds so we can forget.
The situation that exists in our nation means:
Reform! Be reborn!
World's gonna change and I'm gonna change it.
Turn out the old, rearrange it.
We can't get by on what they dictate on high.
Reform! Be reborn!
Look out the window and what do I see?
L.A. smog coming after me.
My eyes are burning and heads are turning to me.
Reform! Be reborn!
World Reform
Music and Lyrics by Roger Linder - 12/15/1974
Be it humor, be it kind
To the others, never mind
Words can be for harm or good
On them has my life withstood
If in silence I must live
Even though I’ve much to give
Cannot bear not being heard
After all, they’re only words
Take one, take two, form a sentence
Then they’re stopped, there is no patience
Better they be left unsaid
Better keep them in my head
Words fall onto empty ears
Ones that I had once held dear
Might as well fall on the ground
Once they’re there, just step around
Words flow silent through the air
Not one heard with love or care
From the tongue they issue forth
Never caught for what it’s worth
