Another busy #TTRPG week & a half ends this afternoon for this #ProDM, as my #DND Rime of the Frostmaiden group meets again.
Had a great time last night revisiting #Shadowrun with an awesome group of players.
Phandelver Phriday was fun, as was the penultimate #Cthulhu on Wednesday.
Good times!!

I feel more comfortable about it already. :)
Thanks!
That's what I'm wondering about, mostly. I wanted to run the 1E Starter campaign and wondered about how much work it would be. I also have players that have played Fallout and Achtung so they know the 1E system those also use. But I would prefer to stay current, hence the debate.
Also, as someone running 5 D&D campaigns and one Call of Cthulhu one, I laugh at your sanity question (in a maniacal Joker voice :) ).
I'm currently trying to decide between 1st and 2nd Edition of STA, as I have interested players and almost all the books from 1E (which I used all of twice) but also the new Core book, GM Kit, and Starter Set. Curious if you considered 1E (if you have it) and, if so, what made you choose 2E?
Busy #TTRPG weekend ahead!
Tonight: Eclipse of the Earthmother (DnD 5.5 Moonshaes)
Sunday Afternoon: #Shadowrun 5E Refresher
Sunday Evening: #DnD Tomb of Annihilation
Lots of gaming goodness! Let's do this!

I do agree, however, that when you do get those different timelines happening, it can be magic. I've honestly rarely had that happen, due to the aforementioned rare decker player, but having read all the old novels, you saw it play out often in fiction.
I'm only running a one-shot for an old friend that was waxing nostalgic about SR, so I doubt I'll toss in a Decker and just hand-wave that section of the game to avoid complication. Its funny, over many years of Shadowrun from Day 1 to today, I've rarely had decker players.
With how many players only want their "comfy slippers" of #DnD, its always nice to get to bring other games to the table. I'm lucky to have run Achtung & Call of Cthulhu, Imperium Maledictum, and Werewolf recently. Coming up, Shadowrun 5E!! Its been quite a while!! Can't wait!

I don't think that's an uncommon circumstance after the death of a loved one. My mind, to this day 18 years later, still occasionally does that and did it much more when my father's passing was more recent.
What I find amusing is I try and get players to collaborate when I run D&D, so I do think that I'll find that part not that different than it. Granted, that doesn't always work, but I try.
The system does remind me of FFG Star Wars. Success w/Threat or Failure w/Advantage or Succeed with Fear, etc
Problems:
He loved the Umbra setting and spent WAY too long reading entire Player blurb from the book & waxing poetic about it.
He had to be corrected 3 or 4 times on rules, including which dice he rolls.
My Guardian scared off Beasts and he described what I did for me. Just one such example.
It wasn't the game's fault, but you never get a second chance to make a first impression. That's the risk with con games. I've had Top 5 all-time sessions and some real stinkers (my only ever Werewolf game had the GM's super-powered NPC arrive and take over the final battle...). This was the latter.
Noted it in my reply to another person if you'd like a longer answer. Basically, unprepared DM that monopolized the narrative and didn't know the rules. The RP never got to shine because we rarely (ever?) got a chance to be collaborative.
However, clearly, I'm willing to give it another chance.
As a GM myself, it was painfully bad. The guy seemed nice enough, but he had played a demo a year earlier, he said, and somehow figured he could run unprepared. He could not.
The setting was neat (Age of Umbra), but for a game I'd wanted to see what the hype was about, it was a bad first impression.
GM didn't know the rules and was corrected 4 times by a player.
GM monopolized the narrative in the "more narrative than D&D" game to a point that he described what my character was doing to scare off monsters rather than letting me describe my own actions.
GM rambled.
GM didn't finish the scenario.
Won some store credit at the #SWU PQ, so I took the plunge and picked up #Daggerheart #TTRPG.
Despite a very bad first session at Terminal City Con, I want to like the system & give it a fair shake. It uses FFG Star Wars/Modiphius 2d20 style mechanics, which I like, so the pedigree is there.

Took part in the Vancouver #StarWarsUnlimited Planetary Qualifier this past Saturday and finished a respectable 12th with Chewbacca Yellow Splash. A good time was had at the well-run event and some fun decks I hadn't seen before. Congrats to my buddy for Top 8-ing with my Sly Moore hotness! #SWU
Lando will climb. Sebulba will likely fall. Chewie and Jabba should stay steady unless they start winning events. Vader will stay high because he's Vader, not because he's a great leader.
Busy weekend started today with kid's #DnD camp and paid game.
Tomorrow's same.
Saturday is kid birthday party and paid game.
Sunday is home game.
Monday I go back to day job and then have paid game.
Somewhere in there will be sleep and prep and maybe some downtime.
Whew!

Week of running #DnD Spring Break Camp is almost over & its been a fun week with cool kids. Tough boss fight today had youngest a little too worried they were going to die (they were doing okay, but big scary boss was dishing lots of damage), but calmed as tide turned. Good story being told. #ProDM
New #StarWarsUnlimited set has me playing lots of games and rotation has reinvigorated deck building. AggNeg is a problem, as is Lando (gee, #FFG, sure glad free resources has never been a problem in #SWU before...Han1/Boba/Han2...), but overall, its a fun time to play Star Wars Unlimited again!
I've picked up the Pocket Editions of the Player's Guide and GM's Guide, as well as the Labyrinth Worldbook & Adventures, so I'm slowly building a collection of ToV but have yet to play it. This review definitely encourages me to look at it further.
A busy weekend for this #ProDM begins with 4 #TTRPG games in 3 days!
Call of Cthulhu tonight, a kid's D&D birthday tomorrow afternoon, and a double header of D&D and Imperium Maledictum on Sunday!
Let the games begin!
Run what gets your juices flowing! If you want to try Daggerheart, you absolutely should!
I'm jonesing to get back to Warhammer FRPG 4E and revisit Deadlands after a very long break, myself.
Catching my breath after a busy #TTRPG #ProDM weekend!
Welcomed a new player to our Frostmaiden campaign that fit in nicely as we finished Tier 1 with a Big Boss fight against a buffed Sephik Kaltro.
Had a fun RP session for most of our Sat Moonshaes game.
And Phandelver finished Talhund Fri!
This will be one of the Chase Showcases if he is as good as he looks like he'll be.
Oh wow, you had me at hello, @cubicle7games.bsky.social!

I'm not from Nunavut, but I am Canadian and Snowguard was pretty darn cool. Wish we saw more of her (and more Champions)!
Its a solid ability, but keeping Maz alive won't be easy with that statline. There does seem to be more wide strategies available, so its possible we'll see the board fill up a little more post-rotation and, if so, her utility improves. I'd probably never run more than 2, but I'll try her.
