We all deserve more ease. That's really it.
Not once in the 80s, 90s or 00s do I recall a politician urging the public to embrace email, mobile phones, texting, two factor authentication, online banking, air fryers, or to replace all their cassette collection with a CD collection.

“Embracing the future/change” is an absolutely villainous concept. It assumes the existence of a future that must either be accepted or rejected, but fails to recognize that we are actively & constantly shaping it. “It” has no separate existence. And is all change good? No one believes that."

we’ve talked a lot about how AI might con people into believing bad things, but it is sad to think of how it will also make us stop believing in wondrous things too
Thank you!!

Do you know if the draft has been released generally? I was on a zoom a couple of weeks ago where it sounded like that was happening soon but hadn't seen any updates
“That’s what government is here for. To make your life better.” so simple, seemingly so obvious, and yet so few elected government officials believe in or even understand this concept!
Cite the deep magic to me, witch. I was there when it was written and I think it’s important to credit our sources.

Things that help calm the nervous system, quickly:
- Box breathing (in for 4, hold for 4, out for 4, hold for 4, repeat)
- Immerse your face in cold water (activates mammalian dive reflex)
- Humming (stimulates vagus nerve)
- Exercise (anything helps, outside even better)
- Impeachment and removal
"we need kids to get an early start operating machines that are routinely wrong and may try to coax them into suicide and/or psychosis" is a fun education perspective i disagree with actually

everyone here is pretty much tapped out, but the impacts of Metro Surge are still looming large here. our black and brown and immigrant neighbors lost months of work, and rent is still due.
We need help.

I don't see this said enough: the widespread use of generative AI is not only making our jobs as educators harder logistically, but also emotionally. It is genuinely sad to be suspicious of students when you have spent so much time building a pedagogy based on trust and not being a cop. It sucks.
My university: "Copilot is Microsoft's AI-powered productivity service that uses large language models (LLMs) to help you create content, analyze information, summarize documents, and complete tasks more efficiently."

On this TDOV, please visit this link and tell the Mayor to make good on his fine words, fine Mt. Sinai and Langone for denying trans kids health care, and direct NYC Hospitals + Health to provide those kids care.
