Most of the $48 million of spending in Kentucky’s GOP primary for Senate has been by super PACs supporting Nate Morris and Andy Barr, which are bankrolled by a few billionaires and dark money groups. www.lpm.org/news/2026-04...

While 20 and 19% of Dem primary voters respectively say they’d vote for Harris or Newsom if they voted today, only 2% said they’d vote for Ky Gov. Andy Beshear
Meanwhile, Beshear ranked 3rd as “most electable,” meaning Dem primary voters think he would be more likely to win against a Republican in the 2028 presidential election
Interesting combo of polls here from Yale’ Spring ‘26 poll
Shows Dem primary voters think Beshear is high in electability for a presidential run (meaning he’d do well in a general against a Republican), but few actually say he’s their preferred candidate if they had to vote today

In one fell swoop, the Republican supermajority overrode nearly all of Gov. Andy Beshear’s veto attempts Tuesday, with one day left in the 2026 legislative session.

My favorite time of the year in Louisville.
And check out how we connect the dots. @joesonka.lpm.org wrote 2 weeks ago about how Addiction Recovery Care allegedly committed massive Medicaid fraud. Now lawmakers have passed legislation that included a provision ending Medicaid payouts for the claim.
We at @kentuckypublicradio.org think it's important to be there on nights like last night so that we can report to you what your government is up to. And we've been doing it all session. Like check out this story on how lawmakers use shell bills to pass new laws with little public input.
Why did lawmakers work past midnight? That's because bills that passed last night from the Republican supermajority are considered veto proof, as any veto issued by Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear can be overridden on the final two days of the session in mid-April, after which they would become law.
They also passed a bill that would shrink the Jefferson County Board of Education (the state's largest district) from seven to five and create new district maps. Check out the story from @sylviaruthg.lpm.org, Jess Clark and @justinhicks.lpm.org
Last night, the Kentucky legislature passed a $32 Billion budget and a $1.7 billion one time spending bill that together is chock full of news: from changes to Medicaid to a McConnell statue to a ban on Kratom. Check out the reporting from @joesonka.lpm.org
Local media is as important as it has ever been in this country, and the journalists (not AI) at Kentucky Public Radio are out there doing the work, sometimes, until very late into the night. Follow along to learn what happened on the longest legislative night of the year.
It's April Fools Day and the last day before the veto period here in the Kentucky General Assembly
We still haven't seen the giant executive budget, the transportation budget or the one-time spending bill. So it's going great
Typically the craziest day in Frankfort. We're here. #kyga26
