This is gibberish, plain and simple. You cannot slash defense spending while buttressing NATO, or else you're just doing Trumpian policy but nicer.

Also simply negotiating a new world order? Why didn't I think of that!

🚨This afternoon, Congress is set to vote on changes that could directly impact protections for wolves and other endangered species.

📣In these final hours, we URGE you to call your rep. at 202-224-3121 and speak up for the ESA. The future of wolves and other species depends on what happens next.

A lot of public service work is task specific, i.e. there is not a big private market for it. So one logic for civil service protections to recruit and retain people who see it has their career, and invest in improving their expertise. Harder to do that now.

this is a very dark accidental joke about foreign news priorities about Africa

I hadn’t heard the Uganda part of the claims (and honestly am pretty confident the local police would do the job with aplomb) but otherwise yes. The very ginger public statements going back and forth between the government and military were something to see during that whole period.

This same SCOTUS he is yelling about cleared the way to let his administration dismantle multiple agencies established in legal statute while applying the standard that not letting the executive pursue its interests was “irreparable harm.”

CDC won’t publish report showing covid shots cut likelihood of hospital visits The report, which had cleared the agency’s scientific-review process, had been delayed. It now won’t be published at all, people familiar with the decision told The Post.

The #CDC report that showed the #Covid vaccine halved the risk of a recipient needing emergency care or hospitalization has been shelved by HHS, @lenasun.bsky.social reports. www.washingtonpost.com/health/2026/...

Jay Bhattacharya has ordered that a paper showing the effectiveness of COVID19 vaccines in preventing severe disease and hospitalization be suppressed and hidden.

This man has been crying nonstop about political censorship for 6 years.

But he’s the one who is actually doing it.

I'm not going to provide details, so don't ask. Nevertheless:

No, it is not OK to have one hallucinated cite. No, you can't delete that and expect me to take the rest of your work seriously. No, absolutely not. It should never ever happen.

Man, if only these people could believe in the experiences of people outside of themselves, like the voters of Wisconsin or North Carolina!

But if he has specific concerns that I can’t speak to I can connect him to people who can likely help out?

What are his concerns? Workload? Time dependency? I work in USAF DL and have a bit of a grip on that program but am not an expert.

Is he doing the hybrid thing or the fully DL program?

Whole generation got their brains pickled by the idea that politics is a process of patient triangulation and consensus-building instead of a knife fight that decides how pain, suffering, and resources are distributed throughout society

So uh… you ever cover the urban voters in Wisconsin or North Carolina these past couple years? How they might be angry and upset at the Orban-esque cracking and packing they didn’t even get the chance to weigh in on?

multiverses can work as isolated alternates or one-shots, they are a terrible idea to introduce to a franchise because they come to dominate the franchise

Also I rather suspect the academic achievement gap - boys now trail girls substantially in the aggregate - has a lot to do with these sorts of attitudes pushing male teachers out of primary school education.

It is bad and false to tell boys and men that they aren't and cannot be nurturers.

I'll simply say again that for Shlaes to resurface in The Economist at this moment is an indicator of an ambient concern that Rooseveltian policies and politics are increasingly likely. The thing about the New Deal is, it was *immensely popular.* That's terrifying to certain people
