counterpoint: hoyt-schermerhorn is more of a dream/fugue state than a real place. very thin barrier with reality just by vibes alone

That was my first thought, but then I imagined a bruckheimer/bay balrog movie 🍿

There's a strong chance it'll make it a lot harder for the next yo-yo ma to succeed, and that it'll reduce the opportunities for all musicians at an even now accelerated pace then we've been seeing

Especially for music! It's an art and primarily an analog tradition, especially at a conservatory specializing in classical instruments. Why throw away its strengths for nothing?

Dhalsim movie by the team that did RRR please. A Zangief movie directed by Tarkovsky would also be a dream. Could we have Wes Anderson do a Guile movie also, as a treat?

Told an upper management person at my school that generative ai will only hurt students and has no place in learning music so on to the next school I guess 😂 "well that's one view" they said. "It's the correct one" I said. I don't think I'll ever learn

Regret to inform everyone that Peter Magyar beat the world’s smartest illiberal populist in large measure by working incredibly hard for 2 straight years, meaning the rest of us are just going to have to get off our asses and do shit rather than just complaining.

like seriously, in a chamber setting trombone is not that loud without a mute - and any attempt to solve a musical issue (playing sensitively and balanced) with a technical issue (put a mute on it!) before hearing it live is so often misguided.

composers don't just put a harmon mute on the trombone in a chamber piece to "balance" it - it will not work the way u think it does. 99% of the time from the loadbang call for scores chamber pieces that I hear it just makes the trombone inaudible compared to everything else.

a weird belief that is held across basically all sectors of American life is that boy dollars and boy votes are better than girl dollars and girl votes and so if you have a lot of the latter you need to be constantly trying to exchange them for the former
