🧵Missed diagnoses, delayed treatment and poor medical care are driving record deaths in ICE custody.

@kolyncheang.bsky.social and I spent months investigating the deaths of ICE detainees across the US. Over and over again, we found lapses in treatment that proved fatal.

Hormuz has exposed both the fragility of the fossil fuel system and the limits of American power. Washington no longer seems able to win the wars it starts or manage the economic fallout of its recklessness. www.equator.org/articles/the...

Just so we're all clear, this is a war crime and would be punishable by life or death under U.S. law.

War is when the country most needs journalism relentlessly focused on reporting the facts, without fear or favor. Without it, Americans would not have learned of My Lai, or the truth about Watergate. That is just what Hegseth fears, and what Trump's determined to prevent by coopting the press.

Declaring that no quarter will be given is straightforwardly prohibited under international humanitarian law.

When done to threaten an adversary, the declaration itself amounts to a war crime.

It's weird. I can oppose both Israel and synagogue shootings for the same reason: killing people in houses of worship (or hospitals, or schools, or day cares, or homes) is evil and nobody should do it. It's actually really easy to say "don't kill a bunch of people in a house of worship."

IDF accepts Gaza Health Ministry death toll of over 71,000 Palestinians killed in the war Although Many International Experts Have Accepted the Health Ministry's Data as Reliable, and Even Conservative Relative to the True Death Toll, Israel Had Refused to Accept the Health Ministry's Coun...

I cannot tell you how much doubt was consistently directed at the Gaza Health Ministry’s casualty numbers and how much pressure was put on news organizations to couch those numbers as unreliable.

Biden himself said they were fabricated!

Incredible.
19 of the 137 Venezuelans whom Trump sent to CECOT under the Alien Enemies Act, & who were swapped back to VZ & then escaped to 3d countries, seek to come back to the US to contest their Tren de Aragua designation—knowing they'll be detained (& God knows what else) by the Trump Admin.

Consumer Protection Workers Survived DOGE Attacks through Quick Mobilization Federal workers and unions have proven to be a bulwark defending the rule of law and vital public services during President Trump’s second term. Our union at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau…

If everything had gone according to plan, Russ Vought would have fired every CFPB worker within his first week. Fortunately for the rule of law and every American cheated by the financial sector, very little went according to plan because of union power. ✊️

That the illegal destruction of USAID will kill more than *20 million people* in the next five years, & has ALREADY KILLED 600,000 in just one year, is a world-historical crime that Americans aren't being told about in the terms & with the repetition necessary for them to believe it.
