There is a lot for Union leaders and organizers to reflect on in Mr. Ashton’s results. Both in how we engage our members and how we communicate about how politics impacts our members, working families, and our contracts.
Thank you for your support and solidarity! ✊
Does she think it’s something we’re trying to hide?
PS-Ice cream social at ANTIFA HQ next week. There’ll be root beer floats. Bring snacks.
It should be a national embarrassment that Amtrak is able to serve Vancouver with 14 trains/week (and more planned) while VIA only comes to town twice a week. Not to mention the major Canadian cities that have no VIA service.
A huge, but worthwhile, undertaking to undo the massive conservative cuts from 1990. Frequent and reliable train service connects our communities and provides a low carbon way to travel in comfort!
Happy to join in the 70th anniversary celebration of Via Rail and The Canadian passenger rail service at the Vancouver terminal.
Rail builds our country, connects our communities and is just a fabulous way to see and experience our beautiful nation.
NDP wants much more passenger rail in Canada!
Huge thanks to @fairvote.ca volunteers for talking to delegates at convention. It’s an important conversation we need to keep from being shoved onto the back burner!
Transgender Day of Remembrance From remembrance comes resolve: to protect, uplift, and love without limits
On Transgender Day of Remembrance, we honour the people lost to anti-trans violence and join in solidarity with trans, non-binary, Two-Spirit and gender-diverse people everywhere. Together, we reject hate and work for a future where everyone can live as who they are.
Glad to hear that the VSO Musicians have a tentative collective agreement and are back to work. Great demonstration of solidarity to bring improvements to your jobs! Well done! ✊
Mamdani: We need to make public transportation so good that “no matter how much money is in your pocket, you say: I’m gonna use this.”
And who knew Peter grew some of the tastiest plumbs around?
Always great to bump into @mrpeterjulian.bsky.social and @j-blatherwick-mla.bsky.social at the Labour Day picnic in Burnaby!
Why do we celebrate Labour Day?
Public sector workers deserve fair wages. This year the provincial govt raised minimum wage by 2.6% and allowed landlords to increase rent by 2.3% Yet they believe public sector workers only deserve a 1.5% increase with no retro? Shameful! @bcfed.bsky.social @bcgeu.bsky.social @cupebc.bsky.social
Hear! hear!

ICYMI: Reviving 1990s-style austerity will weaken services, increase inequality and inflict long-term scars on Canadians. @policyalternatives.ca senior researcher @kjscott.bsky.social explains what's at stake for Canadians if these federal govt cuts go through. therosetowneagle.ca/politicslaw/...
These vessels should be built in Canadian shipyards, by Canadian tradespeople, with Canadian materials. So much for elbows up?
@bcfed.bsky.social @bcndpcaucus.bsky.social @davidebybc.bsky.social @canadianlabour.bsky.social
In my experience, when people say things like “you don’t understand, it works differently here,” it usually doesn’t and they’re usually wrong. Very disappointing development for the GTA.
“The labor movement stands with David and we will continue to demand justice for our union brother until he is released.” -AFL-CIO President @lizshuler.bsky.social
Pride season celebrates the many hard-fought victories gained by 2SLGBTQIA+ people over the decades.
It’s also a declaration that hate and discrimination have no place in BC and everyone has the right to live in safety regardless of who they are or who they love.
Happy Pride!
Great steps forward by Starbucks Workers United @sbworkersunited.org in the US in the face of a very adverse labour climate that is hostile to organizing efforts ✊
Mr Au is simply shrugging off that responsibility and trying tell everyone it’s fine because he’s giving his salary to charity is rude. Who’s doing the work in council with his chair empty? Interesting that Mr Au is very worried about the cost of a local byelection but the leader of his party is not
The people of Richmond should be insulted that Mr. Au clearly doesn’t think city councillors do anything of value if leaving Richmond down one council member for the next 18mths is acceptable. Municipal govt has a bigger impact on our day to day lives than any other branch of govt.
Not a great indication of early cohesion within the small caucus that the first response was to post about it publicly …
I think the critique is focused on at least 1/7 of the NDP caucus finding out about the appointment through the media. The central party could have emailed the caucus or even had the new leader call them. Not a critique of MP Davies’ qualifications to be the interim leader.
Adding more lanes doesn’t reduce congestion. Making the biggest highway in North America bigger will make traffic and the climate worse. Invest in efficient and reliable alternatives to car dependency.
I am so not cut out for 300 characters at a time …
