Feels kinda like we’re speed running 100% in a game called Apocalypse Now.

The president may or may not want to nuke Iran.
The world is run by billionaires.
Humans just surrendered to robots in a proxy war between world powers.
Social and traditional media is manipulated to sway popular opinion and the markets with rage bait AI generated news.
The future is now.
Is it real fake news or fake fake news?
I refuse to be on-call for code LLMs wrote without thorough expert review.
Call me when the LLMs can operate their own code in production and deliver on SLO commitments.
OH: If we set up a fleet of agents, we can use a JIRA backlog to coordinate them to replace a whole team of developers.
But real talk:
Why can’t I configure where the kubelet stores container images or ephemeral volumes without also moving all the
kubelet plugin files?
#Kubernetes Pro Tip:
If you change your kubelet —root-path, don’t forget to reconfigure your CSI driver DaemonSets to mount the right kubelet CSI driver plugin path.
Science is good. We should fund it.
Did not see this coming

The US gov is finding ways to fund itself and make corrupt leaders rich without requiring voter approval (tariffs, quid pro quo, bribery, blackmail, debt, crypto, etc.).
This is how they are funding an illegitimate war and invasions of sovereign nations.
This is how they are disenfranchising you.
Money is influence.
Influence is power.
Taxes are how you buy influence over government spending.
When you vote for lower taxes you are voting to give away your power over how the government operates. You are voting for autocracy and against democracy.
Take the power back.

Last year, my apartment complex mandated everyone pay for Comcast internet. I kept my Sail and paid for both, because Comcast sucks.
This year, when that mandate became illegal, I was the first to opt out.
Today, Comcast is out for the entire complex and I’m probably the only one with internet.
If YouTube and Facebook are so addictive that it’s damaging to child mental health, why are the damages only worth $3 million?
It’s a handsy plane.

Work hard, play… hard.
My brain hurts. I need a drink.
Today’s Accomplishment:
Helped debug and coordinate root cause analysis for 8 different issues on two different cloud providers with 15 different engineers across 4 different teams that caused and delayed remediation of 2 separate outages simultaneously.
This is why cloud service providers can still sell their services!
They use largely custom systems to provide global capacity on-demand. That’s huge. And a LOT of work.
You can’t just add K8s or Slurm or OpenStack and call it done.
All of those are great, but Kubernetes doen’t solve the fundamental problem of consistently managing distributed compute, storage, networking, or security across regions, datacenters, or clouds.
For that, you need something that doesn’t exist off the shelf and doesn’t even have a name.
#Kubernetes doesn’t provide “fleet management”.
K8s gives you service discovery, replication, highly available deployments, auto-scaling (with extensions), spread and/or bin-packing scheduling, and a central API to build asynchronous control loops.
Pro Tip:
Not all #kubernetes extensions work with each other.
You can’t just bring your own entire top to bottom stack and expect it to integrate with an existing stack.
Pet Peeve:
Tenants onboarding to your multi-tenant #kubernetes cluster asking “can you just help us install KubeFlow?”

Do I trust it to do this for me in an automated pipeline? Definitely not.
Will I use this for persisting hand drawn diagrams in the future? Probably yes.
Gemini impressed me today.
I uploaded a picture of my whiteboard and asked it to generate xml for a draw.io diagram based on the image. First in cleaned up the image into something like clipart and then it generated the xml.
Uploading the xml into draw.io worked first time and was 95% correct.
