Am I the only one having problems scrolling - and sending messages on the @bsky.app these days? It's almost unusable, certainly unreliable.

Interesting that the first reporters to break the update on Judge Troy Nunley's extension of the restraining order on the Nexstar - Tegna case are reporters working for TEGNA.
UPDATE: District Judge Troy Nunley has extended the restraining order on the Nexstar acquisition of TEGNA for an additional 7 days, pending his decision on whether to issue a longer injunction.
The judge overseeing the Nexstar-TEGNA merger lawsuit will not issue his order on an injunction today (Thursday).
The judge has given DIRECTV/state AGs until Friday to file a five-page document responding to a procedural request instead.
So, order likely coming Friday.

This isn’t a decision we made lightly, but it might be overdue. 🧵 (1/5)

These are the two best reports I've read on Nexstar hearing. I can't offer anything better.
Meanwhile I'm putting my policy head to work on this. More soon.

I was in the courtroom. Will bring a new perspective soon.
We are at the federal courthouse in Sacramento today, dipping in on the hearing in the Nexstar-TENGA merger challenge brought by California AG Rob Bonta and DIRECTV, which have been consolidated into a single case.
More updates later this evening.

Stay tuned.
All he really said was "This is a BFD." For that they went nuts.
Important recent point from @joshtpm.bsky.social at @talkingpointsmemo.com. He notes it seems obvious, but may not be: Only INDIE media orgs can NOT be puppeteered by Trump, his stooges or big corp owners kissing up to Trump! SUPPORT your faves! (Including TPM! talkingpointsmemo.com/memberships)
About a quarter of voters are registered as Republicans, another quarter Democrats.
About half are registered Independents.
It didn't used to be that way.
We need both parties to pay attention to the middle thinkers and move policy to benefit the whole of US, not special interests.

Amazing to realize that every single one of us, save four, are in this photo.
The Federal Register link has been updated.
Interesting. I posted the official text of the law GWBush signed capping the percentage of US TV market ownership at 39% for companies like Nexstar.
It has now disappeared from the Federal Register.
Hitting a nerve?
The beginning of the end for the illegal Nexstar/Tegna merger:
Now is the time.
Save Local News!
Take the war in Iran, for example: Trump's State Dept. decimated its Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs and reportedly fired a number of its oil and gas experts.
Meanwhile, the Pentagon decimated the offices that would've investigated the lethal strike on an Iranian girls' school. trib.al/cmLCVJr
This makes me breathe a bit easier. It appears there is an off-ramp for this illegal merger.
Still lives on!
I think it's part of the two party system where politicians get entrenched, not just for their own selves but also for their party apparatus which rewards seniority.
I used to like term limits, but have seen really good pols termed out.
