"Sometimes, a shop owner claims his business was ruined because the city removed 4 parking spaces. With surveys, our mayor can say: ‘6,000 more people pass your shop a day thanks to a new bike lane. Are you sure you’re a good businessman?’”

— Jan Gehl of #Copenhagen, quoted in #Straphanger.

Genuinely brilliant from Private Eye.

Politicians have chosen to be in the public spotlight.

We choose intense scrutiny and everyone is entitled to an opinion. And that's right.

But how do these nasty digs about physical appearance serve anyone?

It's no wonder so many people - particularly women - are put off ever getting involved.

I feel truly heartbroken today. My Chinese takeaway,
which has been serving this community for more than
10 years, was vandalized with hateful graffiti telling us
to "go home."
This is not just paint on the wall - it is blatant
discrimination, and it hurts deeply
The police are already following up on this incident. If
anyone has seen anything or knows who did this,
please contact us
We work hard every day to serve our customers with
love and dedication. I believe our community is
stronger than hate, and 1 hope everyone will stand
together against this kind of behaviour.

This is where the empty headed Flag shagging leads.

Race hate.

The are a popular choice for delivering bikes in the UK on account of cost.

I had a bad experience with them about this time last year, absolute cham of a company and the suppliers that use them are happily complicit.

My go to is drumstick squashes. Similar macros, easy to chew and handle.

What a time to be alive, when the chain rub on the derailleur in big-big and small-small is the only fault you can find on a budget bike.

Journalists are their own worst enemy sometimes (ok, most of the time).

Chris Whitty says culture-war coverage of cycling could harm nation’s health Chief medical officer for England urges people to set media cliches aside to focus on health benefits of physical activity

It's geography, innit?

“what we’ve got to do is build between the places people care about: from their homes to their shops, to their place of worship, to the school and so on. We’ve got to think about that in a really serious way.”

Today marks nine years since Jo Cox was assassinated by a far-right extremist, a terrible loss to those who knew and loved her and to politics. Zero lessons were learned though and the far-right continues to be pandered to. With more political assassinations in the US it all feels too familiar.

Just watching the video I took from the finish at the Womens Tour of Britain. Just noticed that in front of me was a girl holding a Lorena Wiebes sign in front of me.

I think that finish made her day judging by her reaction.

I'll say it now.
Whatever the motive was behind the Liverpool attack*, that monster** driving won't get a life driving ban.

* It wasn't a collision, it wasn't an incident. It was a deliberate attack.

** Regardless of motive, deliberately driving into a crowd at speed makes you a monster.

The man on the left is Colin Kaepernick, the man on the right needs no introduction. They both have one thing in common, they sacrificed their careers to call out injustices suffered by marginalised people. In a world full of hatred, be more like Colin and Gary.

Criminals could fill potholes and clean bins under government plans Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood is said to want to expand unpaid work, which she believes to be too lenient.

More performance from Labour.

People that keep our public realm in good shape are skilled and yet this is framed as punishment work. You can also bet that there is plenty of exploitation to be had here at the risk of people's actual jobs.
