Here lies the inherent paradox that many of us British (especially English) people feel and struggle with. I can’t think of another country where even the mere presence of our nation’s flag is synonymous with racism, exclusion, and discrimination. Being English is not only uncool, it’s really fucking embarrassing.

Accidentally had two weeks off the newsletter in a month. Tempted to write about 'raise the flag' this week, but I am not sure if it's old news. Flags, in general, are pretty interesting, as they represent different things to different people.

This attitude also feeds into the narrative that ND people cannot simply exist in normal society. We are bad people, who do bad things. Autistic people do not abuse because they ‘don’t understand the signals’, if they do abuse, it’s because they are abusers— it has nothing to do with autism.

Wrote this back in Feb about the Neil Gaiman allegations and it's also true for Gregg Wallace, TV presenter and green grocer, who recently used his autism to excuse abhorrent behaviour.
