Virginia hell yeah. I hate gerrymandering. But we're at a crossroads, and we have to take every measure we can to keep these people from controlling the government for the next two years.

This has been an exhilarating #JordanCon2026 and I have been so busy that I haven’t even had the time to post about it this weekend!

Can’t wait for next year. Maybe I’ll have an author booth 👀

God's Own Country (PRE-ORDER) God's Own Country: A Trinity of Novellas by Mathew L Reyes Father. Son. Holy Spirit. Three faces of the divine, three sides of human nature, three tales of damnation and ecstasy. A Baptist congregatio...

Today's the day! I'm so grateful to Fay, to Cassandra, to Lisa, and to everyone who put so much work into this! Born of something older than Heaven and Hell, and crawling from the primordial depths of the human psyche, GOD'S OWN COUNTRY is a book you don't want to miss!

I am betting it has similar effects on the creative spaces. Those who utlize it to 'help' brainstorm, write, draft, and edit will invariably produce a substandard product, certainly nothing bearing the name 'art.'

If you're in Georgia's 14th Congressional District and you're freaking out. There's something you can actually do. There's a special election tonight. GO NOW. Vote Shawn Harris. Bring the Republican majority down.

A close-up view from the Orion spacecraft during the Artemis II crew’s lunar flyby on April 6, 2026, captures a total solar eclipse, with only part of the Moon visible in the frame as it fully obscures the Sun. Although the full lunar disk extends beyond the image, the Sun’s faint corona remains visible as a soft halo of light around the Moon’s edge. From this deep-space vantage point, the Moon appeared large enough to sustain nearly 54 minutes of totality, far longer than total solar eclipses typically seen from Earth. This cropped perspective emphasizes the scale of the alignment and reveals subtle structure in the corona during the rare, extended eclipse observed by the crew. The bright silver glint on the left edge of the image is the planet Venus. The round, dark gray feature visible along the Moon’s horizon between the 9 and 10 o’clock positions is Mare Crisium, a feature visible from Earth. We see faint lunar features because light reflected off of Earth provides a source of illumination. [alt text from NASA]

Eclipsed Moon, with Venus, from #Artemis II. The subtle color in the corona is beautiful.

I thought I was sick of the thought of space travel.

Turned out I was really sick of billionnaire vanity projects.

What NASA's doing is incredible and has got me excited about space exploration again.

Who amongst us hasn't, at one time or another, teleported to a Waffle House?

Yuuuuup It’s these “readers” who do it for the aesthetics and wouldn’t know reading if it bit them on the booty.

Real talk the people saying prologues and epilogues aren’t important are barely literate to begin with. Not every book needs a P/E but they aren’t de facto bad or unnecessary 🙄

I literally never read a prologue on principle alone. If it's that important, it should be in the book.

I agree completely. The epilogues and prologues aren't part of the story. If they were important they would be part of the story.
People write forwards for books, that's just another person writing about what they thought about the book or author... I assume that's what author is doing in the prologue and epilogues

I agree. I feel like it's stuff that wasn't good enough to be in the book

epilogues and prolouges to me are equivalent to dvd bonus features and are therefore skippable unless you're really into it

I do not take booktok seriously and I never will. What the fuck you mean the epilogue and prologue “aren’t part of the book/story”???????

Library accessability is a far different thing from a social media post. I'm actually vehemently anti-censorship, and would argue strenuously against the HP books being banned from stores and libraries.

But I have no qualms telling people my thoughts on the morality and ethics of supporting JKR.

I don't want HP apologists in my mentions and I didn't like their tone. Not necessarily animosity, but I don't really want their sort of rhetoric on my page.

Hell yeah, I get that! Thank you Space Jam and 90's culture lol

Oh boy. It's been a while since a bskeet of mine left orbit but my Le Guin one blasted off, relative to my usual reach. I forgot that some real shite goblins crawl out of the cracks whenever someone dare to poo on HP.

Anyway, happy saturday, read Le Guin

Wow, you seem full of rage and hatred. I pity you. Now, begone.

He is indeed an active protagonist in his story. For the first few chapters, things do 'happen to' him, but his own hubris and pride set off the main conflict of the story, and his journey to correcting his mistake involves both physical and inward/ethical journey.

To buy new HP merch, to read HP publicly at this point, is to make a statement that one supports JKR and her agenda. With most authors I say separate art from artist, but her behavior goes so far above and beyond what is normal. She uses her $ to harm trans people, full stop.

Earthsea? Yes I would say A Wizard of Earthsea is very age appropriate. No sexual themes, no gore or violence, no real-world swearing, and a story that's engaging, magical, and has good lessons for coming of age.

I'm gonna be real, I have no idea who Lionel Messi is but I'm going to guess this was a huge compliment to Le Guin based on context clues 😂

Yeah this weirdo just got hidden so. But you're right pretty much. They rely on some pretty racist stereotypes with the goblins too.

Oh no, you've hurt my feelings, nameless repost account who is probably a grown adult who still identifies as a Gryffindor. Whatever shall I do?

3 weeks ago 1 0 0 0

Yup that's why I emphasized the first book in the series. Which tbh has more rereadability than the whole of the other series

It's never a bad time to remind ppl that there is a boy-goes-to-wizard-school novel with deeper themes, gorgeous writing, and psychological depth that HP never attained.

A Wizard of Earthsea. Do yourself a favor and read it. Ged is the better wizard, better man, and Le Guin the superior writer.
