Two flagship papers from the International Brain Laboratory, now out in @Nature.com:
🧠 Brain-wide map of neural activity during complex behaviour: doi.org/10.1038/s41586-025-09235-0
🧠 Brain-wide representations of prior information in mouse decision-making: doi.org/10.1038/s41586-025-09226-1 +

A great example of engagement with open peer review 👇
Thanks! I'll share it once it materialises :)

Interested in finding out what causes you to disengage from a task? Catch my talk about the dynamics of arousal and engagement at #CCN2025 @cogcompneuro.bsky.social today at 11! You'll find me in room C1.04, and Friday afternoon at poster C168.
@isabellehoxha.bsky.social rocking her first #CCN2025 poster on her work with @stepalminteri.bsky.social on range adaptation.
Stay tuned for her second poster on Friday afternoon, and @phil-johnson.bsky.social’ talk on Thursday!
Finally the Version of Record of our paper "Criterion placement threatens the construct validity of neural measures of consciousness" is out in @elife.bsky.social as *fundamental* and *compelling*!

New paper out in @plosbiology.org w/ Charlie, @phil-johnson.bsky.social, Ella, and Hinze 🎉
We track moving stimuli via EEG, find evidence that motion is extrapolated across distinct stages of processing + show how this effect may emerge from a simple synaptic learning rule!

To celebrate the defence of my PhD, and thanks to
@ibbamsterdam.bsky.social, I will host a symposium titled "Vision as prediction: learning, action, and biases" on June 6. Program, registration and more information here: bit.ly/43reOgR
An open letter supporting the international bachelor’s psychology programs threatened for cuts. Proceeding with these cuts would damage some of the most important and impactful psychology departments globally. #supportdutchpsychology

Four large Dutch universities, including Leiden University where I work, have decided to throw international psychology bachelor programs under the bus in an effort to appease the rightwing government.
Here's my blog why this is a terrible idea.

I'm looking for a public dataset of young+older people doing a simple perceptual decision-making task, with sufficient trial + subject numbers. Ideally, multiple stimulus difficulty levels but no manipulations (conditions, task switching etc).
This must exist - tips for where to look? 🧒👨🦳🧠
Coding best practice Q:
Multiple people are analyzing the same data, stored on an internal server. What is a good way to store local paths pointing to the data? This is what we have now - there are probably better/cleaner ways

🎉 Our paper "Criterion placement threatens the construct validity of neural measures of consciousness" is now out in eLife! 🎉
TL;DR: Both simulations and empirical data show that you should not post-hoc sort neural data based on subjective measures of consciousness.

this is a good paper. and I have absolutely no relationship with the author #hirethisstranger
How do research groups keep track of the various papers they read and discuss, and ideas that arise? We love 'literature blitz' meetings and learn a lot, but then often the discussions stay in each of our heads.
Zotero group libraries? Other solutions? #newPI
