A quick reminder about the Sluckin Lecture, which is quickly approaching. We have a fantastic speaker - Professor Anil Seth (@anilseth.bsky.social). Wherever you are, it's worth the trip to Leicester.

Indeed, I did not ever say. Nevertheless, @evanthompson.bsky.social disagrees with what I did say too.
.. and we both know we never get to choose the titles/headlines, which is unfortunate, because even though *you* know I mean experience (and target that in your piece), the headline reinforces the wrong idea once again, hence the need for all these clarifications, tiresome for everyone.
I am frequently MIS-quoted on this point, which is why I go to great pains always to emphasise that I mean "our experience of reality", not "reality itself". E.g. in the article you sent me, note what I actuall say compared to what the journalist writes up, both in the text and in the body.
Correct. I donβt think and have never said that reality itself is a hallucination, whether controlled or otherwise

Thanks! I look forward to reading π
That's great! It has taken me a long time to write the response to the (50!) commentaries, but I'm nearly there - at least I think. Very happy for your view to be available to see.
I definitely donβt mean that! The word βcontrolledβ is just as important. I any case this slogan isnβt due to me β¦ I heard it from Chris frith, who heard it from β¦.. it goes some way back.
Hi Evan - any chance you could send me a copy too? Iβd love to see what you say. ππ½
Im afraid I canβt access it β¦. Tried a few times. Would like to see what @evanthompson.bsky.social has to say, though.

Today is the annual Covid-19 #DayOfReflection. 6 years have passed since the start of the pandemic. We reflect today, alongside our community, on the people who lost their lives to Covid-19; the people who still face day-to-day impacts; and on the road ahead.

No idea yet β¦ and yes, it would!
