Bluesky and Mastodon sidestep this, and while it may lower engagement and thus might kill both platforms eventually, the open platform concept is far more appealing to me.
API support for both is still light, so a long way to go, but I think I can safely pass on threads

Have been playing with Bluesky and just installed threads.

Initial thoughts, what killed Twitter and my biggest beef with Facebook is the reliance on “curated” timelines in order to sell advertising. Long terms these are things I avoid.
