and proud to be part of this work with @rumanhayre.bsky.social The recent JTAI report on this reinforces what we have been saying: too many people, too many agencies are not listening to chn's voices, are not recognising chn as victims of DA. This has to change

It is so important that all those working in our educational settings understand this
Dr Sue Morris-King (Deputy Director for Schools and Early Education at Ofsted) tells MPs that schools with good levels of attendance think of it ‘like safeguarding’.
Don't call him "jealous", @lbc.co.uk.
Don't describe him on his own terms.
Don't speculate about his unknowable state of mind, ascribing his violence to jealousy, a feeling.
THIS man was controlling. Coercive. Abusive. Those words describe his actions. Use them.

It's important to remember perpetrators don't only control their partner, they control every one around them too, including professionals.

Co-regulation is not about doing something to a pupil. At its root, it's about positive relationships & how one nervous system responds to another.Pupils who did not receive co-regulation develop self-regulation skills to react or suppress uncomfortable feelings & emotions.🧠🌱
Changing this is essential @operationencompass.bsky.social asked the gov't to do this many years ago and way before the DA Act which could have addressed this @shadowsofcontrol.bsky.social @carlevecrime.bsky.social
@katefitzgibbon.bsky.social How can we encourage the Australian police to implement @operationencompass.bsky.social to enable schools to support children experiencing domestic abuse..free, costs nothing but has hugely positive impact
Healthy relationships, belonging & supportive educational settings shape your neural pathways.
We are wired for it.
This lies in the neuroscience of attachment .
Educators need to know this. 🧠🌱
In educational settings, our emotional needs are met through regulation and relationships. When these emotional needs are met,our bodies feel safe. When these needs are ignored, our bodies adapt
Educators need to know this.

If a brain is stressed, worried, or afraid, it can't learn. We need to help more children to be successful. 🧠🌱
It is important that all those who support child and adult victims of domestic abuse, including all our educational settings, understand the issue of homelessness @carlevecrime.bsky.social @dahalliance.bsky.social
Operation Encompass has been working with police and educational establishments for 15 years , we achieved children being recognised as victims of DA in their own right and have always championed the incredibly important role of responding officers
I think @operationencompass.bsky.social has been saying and asking for this for 15 years @policinginsight.bsky.social
we are indeed!
Looking forward to being there @benjyperks.bsky.social @warrenlarkin.bsky.social

Would love to get Australia to introduce @operationencompass.bsky.social for all the child victims of domestic abuse..it costs nothing
If you want to teach a young person who has trauma related dysregulation, you have to regulate them before you teach them. Your intention is to reach the cortex, but first, you have to deal with the trauma altered systems that originate in the lower parts of the brain.🧠🌱
