I was at a party the other night, and at the table were a few women and a few men. The Epstein thing came up. All three of us women had a moment of expressing just how deeply shaken we are at the realization of how thoroughly our institutions are infested with evil people.

To know what men will do when they are immune (or think they are) from scrutiny? It’s very hard to take.
Men, as a woman, I just wanna say that this is painful in a way I don’t really know how to describe. Remember how the women around you exploded in a mass revelation of #MeToo? I would call that a 4.0 on the Richter scale and this? It feels like about an 8. That’s how it feels to me personally.
And how hard it is to be female in this world. Every guy at the table was totally sympathetic, but I noticed that in the next few minutes they each got up, independently of each other, to go join another conversation.

What do we mean by “this is water?“ Let’s just say it’s timely. Come on down.

When’s the last time you found yourself researching stuff like varieties of malevolent spirits and the origins of tamales in southern cuisine and Chinese-American businesses in Mississippi and hierarchies of Irish poets?!? POWER OF ART, BABY #sinners
Makes a lot of sense to me!
Well hello @neilyoungarchives.bsky.social at our protest in Ventura today!

Our job was to rally around the old man with the incumbent advantage (who built an incredible economy and restored our international standing out of the ruins), get him through the election, and then lean on him to step aside for her. That was our job.
Mother Jones DONATE Marie Follayttar, a longtime organizer in Maine who is disabled by Long Covid and cancer, talked on the Long Covid call about how the Hands Off protests were taking place on the 48th anniversary of the start of what became known as the Section 504 sit-ins, a landmark series of protests urging enforcement of a federal law advancing disability rights. Follayttar noted that Section 504 is at risk today from a lawsuit from 17 Republican Attorneys General. "There may come a time where we will have to take similar action and find ways to mobilize to make sure that we are seen," Follayttar said. "We know we have to teach everyone how to include us."
48 years ago the Section 504 sit-ins took place fighting for federal enforcement of disability discrimination laws.
Today I reminded a community of folks with long covid & me/cfs that we may need to “take similar actions.”

Glad to oblige!
Amazing story about “gay girl in Damascus,” terrifying reality check about hurtling towards autocracy, a sweet ending piece about funny lies and the best Torey Malatia shout out you’ve ever done – it was perfect.

I was trying to think what Vance & Trump at the Zelenskyy meeting at the White House reminded me of and I just figured it out www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEmS...
Here’s to the skinny older white lady standing on a corner in Solvang unfurling a handmade sign that said:
Degenerates
Of
Greed and
Evil
The wind was blowing and her sign was whipping around and she was all alone. I yelled support to her.
Respect.
True bravery in an underdog battle against an empire. What is actual heroism? Seems to be the theme of the last couple days. Today’s issue of “a Habit of Hope” looks to the Revolutionary War for a lesson that resonates today. And the Person of the Week is the expert songwriter who wrote about it!
See you at the next one
Psst…the #economicblackout is the friends we made along the way

In this week’s “A Habit of Hope,” I write about a newspaper that arose in the wake of the epic Flood of 1982 & brought vital information and connection to a community – a newspaper that lasted only 18 days. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the Inverness Daily News.
