so inspiring to see Cory Booker get red-faced and furious as he demands people vote for Democrats they don’t actually want representing them 😍

all of those kooky 5G network conspiracy theories were deliberately sown to distract away from talking about surveillance

We just saw the ANACONDA comedy reboot thing and it’s not very good but I was bracing for miserably bad, and it’s not that either

It does seem like a lot of trouble for a few strong chuckles

There are many sequels that feel obligated to repeat the scenes you liked in the first movie, and this is not one of them. Loved every aspect of its ridiculousness except the choice to give Brian Jordan Alvarez a larger role, which seems like it was probably bad timing

We finally caught up with it and I think it’s a glorious mess that does whatever the hell it wants, and can’t shake the suspicion that it shows clips from both movies during the credits because he knew they’d never let him make a third one

I like how this is written

Biff says “it started to fall apart when he refused to agree with me that [MAGA belief].” [MAGA belief] is a false racist trope first propagated by the KKK in 1926 and debunked by every doctor who’s ever practiced. “Dating,” Biff continued, “is

It’s in French, but was dubbed for the U.S. (That version still takes place in France but pretends some characters are American, so that most but not all of the dialogue’s now in English)

I figure streaming would have both versions via soundtrack/sub options but have never watched it that way

It’s impossible to take seriously about harassment, and would probably say it’s not even a “real” case of it because the harassment is a smokescreen for etc. etc. I think what it’s really about is the male fear that girls are as good at their jobs as they are, by being about one who is NOT

It was pretty fascinating to watch it on a double bill with THE SUBSTANCE, which really made it play like a movie made by one of the men in THE SUBSTANCE

It’s always had fans and came to America on a wave of festival hype, but it’s quite terrible. (And is there a remake now?! Oh no)

The twist ending isn’t possible. Not as presented, anyway. If it was serving a strong metaphor or something, that would have been one thing. But it’s dusty old tropes

I like the first twist ending but the second is so incredibly bad lol. People in the theater just laughed

I have a private version at home where I just cut that out, she drives to the orange groves, end of movie

We just saw that last night! Except I dozed off before that part so thanks for the tip haha

I didn’t even like it until then, for I’d read the Dean Koontz (!) book they pretended they’d never heard of but in fact were indeed ripping off. Looks great though, terrific cinematography

HIGH TENSION must be up there lol. Where do I start

It’s been a while but I remember liking it a lot while also not thinking of it as a thriller, more drama/morality tale

Phone selfie of me in a meeting camera, mouth downturned and eyes bleary, looking like I just watched someone get hit by a truck. Or was myself.

Meanwhile I turned to my guy at some point during 3 FROM HELL and said “this is *really* good, right? Not just me?”, but more mixed reactions on that one out in the world haha

Absolutely. I like CORPSES more in spirit than practice, but THE DEVIL’S REJECTS is one of those experiments where everything goes right

Yes. For instance you may like this less than its own sequels

why’d they make the guy so hot? This slop was made for a protein powder ad

I think 1990: THE BRONX WARRIORS (the first) is my favorite. Giving this guy Trash a romance where a pretty girl from the right side of the tracks sighs “oh, Trash” as they bare their souls (which doesn’t take long)…it’s just too pricelessly funny. The second is a hoot, but has nothing like that

Act up activism is actually an amazing model for social change, in your face direct action, inside outside organizing, science led policy platforms, no monopoly on action, incredibly savvy media strategy, etc. and what a legacy to have been affiliated with this movement

He is not a fan of cringing stress stuff, he cannot enjoy “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” and I very much get why he saw the trailer and decided to go around. It is a real moment for truth in advertising, including the poster with Rose Byrne’s face in tight closeup
